F type V6S motorway MPG
Discussion
Evening all,
I'm just looking into the viability of the V6S being my daily.
I currently do 90 miles a day of which 85 are on the M1 at a steady 70ish.
So at these speeds what does an V6S return? I know cost shouldn't come into it for these cars but when you are doing 18000miles commuting a year it all adds up!

I have never really worked out what i get out of a tank.......when i fill it up it reads 365 miles available....what i actually get i couldn't tell you.
I came from a Jaguar XKRS to the F-Type and in my opinion i would take the F-Type all day long....i know everyone loves the way the ftype looks but under the looks is a really really good car......jaguar did well with this one...so much so i considering getting the AWD version towards the end off the year

Thanks Steve. My estimate of around 27 average sounds about right. You getting many miles to a tank?
How you finding the car overall, would you recommend it as a first sports car for someone which it would be for me? Deciding between the f type or an M4.
Sitticus have you test driven both? I have been thinking of changing my F-Type for something a little more 'practical'. The M4 was my choice until I drove it. I was so underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong it's a very good car, but I found it completely void of excitement and theatre; the main difference being the noise. Some would probably say the 2 aren't necessarily that comparable, but seeing as you're comparing them, there's no competition imo. That said, nothing has been any competition, I've been looking for months but the F-Type is still on my drive. How you finding the car overall, would you recommend it as a first sports car for someone which it would be for me? To be honest I think my head is going to say M4, but my heart will say F-Type. I almost want to hate the M4 so I can make the silly but more fun choice of the F-Type and forget practicality. The lack of noise concerns me, the looks of the car whilst not bad it's no F-Type. And fundamentally I don't spend hours looking at M4 pictures and youtube videos, but I do with the Jag.
I think the two are comparable because they're both cars you desire and want. A 5 Series is cheaper, bigger and a perfectly good car, doesn't mean you WANT one though. An F-Type or M4 is very little about getting from A to B, like a Rolex has very little to do with telling the time. And with that in mind the F-Type is winning so far. If only I didn't have to do the weekly shop to Tesco in it, then it would be an easy choice.

Just think positively, if you can't fit the whole weeks shopping in in 1 go you'd get to drive to Tescos more than once. More than that there are Tescos all over the country. With an F-Type you'd suddenly be finding reasons why you just had to visit a branch that just happened to be at the end of some nice twisty country A-roads.Sitticus said:
Got the M4 test drive on Friday, followed by a second drive of the f-type on Saturday so I'll decide then.
F-Type was much nicer in my mind than the M4. The M4 was a bit OTT for me, not nearly as fun as the V6S, with no real personality either. The Coupe was also a lot better than the convertible which surprised me. Much more planted and fun to drive, and it felt much more solid.Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
