Hi all
There' a great artist's impression of the new XK8/R on the front cover of this weeks AutoExpress magazine. It's based on info from various spy shots of XK mules currently doing the rounds (also shown in the mag in both coupe and conv forms).
Not much new info that we don't already know (based on new XJ alloy chassis - using existing engines etc). They reckon interior space will be much improved and that the conv may lose the back seats.
To be honest, the look they think it is going to have is a little like a cross between the current XK and the XK180 concept. It certainly doesn't move the styling on leaps and bounds, but I don't think there's much wrong with the styling of the current car anyway.
With Ian Callum (DB7, Vanquish, R-Coupe concept) penning the new car, I'm sure we can expect some exquisite forms and detailing.
I can't wait to see the real deal launched, the mag thinks, around Sept '05 for '06 deliveries.

Unfortunately I didnt see that issue, but I know that recently there have been a lot of images going round of "spy" shots which show twin headlamps and an S-Type style front grille. However the following actual spy shots on the following topgear site, suggest otherwise

If anyone has a link to the AutoExpress site it'd be good.
I think the new XK looks fantastic, and I'm currently trying to get on the waiting list at my local Jag dealer (that is unless I can weasel my way into an early Aston V8 Vantage slot!).

Looks like Jaguar will be keeping the classic "wide mouth" grill of the E-Type/XK8. It might get twin headlights, but they'll probably be like the ones fitted to the DB7/DB9 rather than the S-Type look.
It's gonna be a great twin test of the new XKR v new Aston V8 Vantage. Both will be around £70k and have similar power (400bhp). My gut say's I'll prefer the Aston for it's looks and exclusivity.
Wouldn't say no to either though
