hi,
On the nikasil engines, i have read that the timing chains were crap and should be changed and also the water pump was made of plastic( the blade). i was just wondering that if a xjr has had a new/replacement engine put in, would the timing chain and the pump be updated too?
i hope that makes sense, lol
thanks for any replys.

The timing chains themselves were fine, it was the tensioners which were crap. Likewise, the plastic impeller inside the water pump tends to dissintegrate.
A new engine will definately have new timing chain tensioners, but I'm not sure about the water pump.
Ofcourse there are many cars out there with new tensioners, new water pumps and an original engine which 'may' go on forever.
Hope that helps,
Iain
