Greetings all!

Have just joined the forum after spending some twelve hours perusing through the endless ammount of information... may I congratulate everyone on their contributions in making this an invaluable source for first stop, tech advice.

I have a problem with my transmitter which just stopped working for no apparent reason. I don't think its the batteries as the spare packed up the same time. I have tried reprogramming the transmitters, without success. This same problem happened to my previous jag, which was never resolved as I sold the car beforehand. From my experience i would deduce that, maybe, this is an inherant fault with the alarm.

Anyone had the same problem? or any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies that my first posting should be a request. However, i have just had my car back from the bodyshop.. some brain dead moron thought it would be fun to drag a key down the side. I have had two bad experiences with bodyshops (one of which was recomended by a Jag dealer) I won't go into detail. my point is that i would strongly reccomend Harrisons of Farnham to anyone who needs bodywork.

Regards, Miles.

Not sure if this could also be a fault with Jags, but had a problem with the Range Rover which was linked to other nearby transmitters causing the battery to die.

Was advised by LR that electic garage doors, gates, security lights etc. could effect the alarm system; in my case it was a weather station. I know that in your case it isn't killing the battery, but might it be along similar lines?

Hey Ian,

How's the XKR? She looks sweet in your pic!

I kerbed two of my wheels this weekend. Luckily just the chrome strip, looks like beans on toast for me for a few weeks to get them repaired.

Hi
I had a similar problem on my XJ8 one transmitter stopped working and new batteries didnt help, turned out to be broken connection inside the transmitter, repaired at dealer at last service.

XKR going superbly, thanks!!! Still makes me grin every time I'm out in her. Sorry to hear about the wheels. Have to confess to a cold sweat every time I parallel park. What's most annoying with kerbing is the fact that there's no-one else to blame!! One thing that the Range Rover did better was the automatic tilting of the wing mirrors every time you engage reverse.

Think the Jag is supposed to do this too. Gonna ask my dealer this arvo when I drop it off to get wheels sorted.

Hi alanp, thanks for the info, the fobs are ok ,it seems the security ecu will not store any input, but whilst being programmed it gives a false indication that it excepts the input and all is well.
