Just started a search for an XFR on a 2009/10 plate. Any ideas what to look out for in terms of ownership proposition?
Any tips or advice much appreciated.

I don't think their are any big faults or issues with these cars.

Servicing costs are good (I think) considering these cars cost around £65,000 new. I got a 3 year servicing plan for £800. Mine's a 09 plate.
They should be serviced every year or 15,000 miles, I can't imagine many owners doing 15,000 miles in a year so make sure services have been done yearly.

I get 23.2 mpg, mixed driving again I'm happy with that.

The touch screen is a little annoying. You don't want to be trying to find your favorite DAB station while doing the national speed limit on a twisty road.

The exhaust note is rather quiet even when you are giving it the beans so don't be put off if a seller has put a after market backbox on. A lot of people go for the Spires exhaust.

Thank you that's very helpful and fuel consumption better than I expected. Do you use super unleaded? Not that worried about exhaust as Qcar is what I was looking for!

Check for rust on the boot lid above trim, very common on XFs upto '10.
Also check for delaminating on front screen.

I have a 2010 XFR which I have had for 12 months. I've put about 7k miles on it. No issues to date. It hardly uses any oil, does 25/6 mpg on a motorway and it is very comfortable... I drive it in dynamic mode using the paddles as it is the best combination that I have found.

I came from a C63 AMG and the performance is on a par. Tyres are expensive - I just replaced all 4 and it cost me £1200 - but I knew that would be the case when I bought the car.

I am planning on ordering an XFR-S when they become available, or an E63 AMG if I lose patience waiting.

Overall, it's a great piece of Brit metal and at the prices they're going for now, a 500BHP performance bargain.

Just replaced the diff motor on m XFR after it logged a fault... and i had the classic pinching / dragging from the rear tyres at low speeds suggesting the motor is partially locked at low speeds.

That was under warranty. I've just extended my warranty for £1,199, fully comp, breakdown and MOT cover. The extension wouldn't be everyones choice. Depends on how much of a gambling man you are.

I'm getting 19mpg - 20mpg mixed but it does do around 25mpg on the m-way. If i did more m-way trips i reckon my average might be slightly higher. If you drive it like a complete nun, which i had to do once, low on fuel in the middle of nowhere i managed 28mpg. Thats simply not possible nor enjoyable day to day. Expect 19-20mpg.

Servicing i have a 3 year service pack that cost me £750 with free MOT's so i really think thats great value for service costs!

I've had some minor electric gremlins. Touch screen got stuck on a prompt (i think something to do with a reverse camera). It eventually cleared after a few mins. It's a little slow and as mentioned a bit hard to use whilst driving... but aren't they all.

Batteries can also get low or need replacing at the age you are looking at. If i watch the TV on mine with the engine off it only lasts about 10 minutes before switching itself off to preserve the battery.

Mine used hardly any oil either. About 0.5Ltr in 7k which is very reasonable for a 5.0 Ltr engine.

Tyres are roughly £215 each.

My insurance is £318 with esure, not sure why it's so cheap. I'm 30 with 11 NCB. Other companies are around £500.

Exhaust note is too quiet, i put a modified exhaust on which i highly recommend. Your decent local exhaust fitter could probably make and fit for around £350. A spires can be found used for £500 but be prepared to wait. Or spires new is about £800 fitted.

No major common faults on this car. It can have a few electric problems. I've seen some odd messages flash up occasionally. You might find white powder under the bonnet in winter. No body really know what this is, quite common but nothing faulty. People think it's road salt which somehow is channeled up around the engine bay seal. It could come through the supercharger vents.

That's all i know

love the car. Mine is fully loaded and no plans to get rid anytime soon.

Forgot to add I have fitted a Spires exhaust to mine. Expensive but definitely worth it. Transforms the aural pleasure.

Otherwise all good.

Unfortunately I am out Thursday night in town but will definitely show at the next one...

Note: there seems to be a lot of uncertainty around XFR-S availability. Hence the comment re running out of patience. Come on Jaguar............

BP1000, i know you had the warranty at the time of the e-diff motor replacement. But did they give any indication as to how much the parts/labour would have been, if not for the warranty? Thanks.

How would you rate the overall package in comparison to the C63?

Can you tell me more about how to diagnose this? I think mine grinds sometimes at low speeds, has a warranty too.
