Spires Exhaust fitted to my XFR
Discussion
Drove up to Spires in Leicester on Saturday morning and had Matt fit one of their exhausts to my XFR. What a transformation. Coming from AMGs, I missed the sound of a V8 airing it's vocal chords. With the Spires exhaust, it now sounds as it should (IMO). Needless to say, the drive home to Winchester was epic as a result.
Thanks to Matt for doing the work on a Saturday morning and for doing a great job.
Whilst I was there, a chap was having a similar set up being fitted to his brand new XFS. Anyone here??

Morning. Bit of a thread revival for a question
I am looking at a spires exhaust for my '09 plate XFR.
I am not sure where to start or how far to go; I am looking to get more of the v8 muscle car sound, but not the max power rattle the windows effect. So...
Stage 1 - replacing middle sections
Stage 2 - replacing back boxes etc
Stage 3 - both stages 1 and 2 above.
Anyone got any experience or recommendations?
Cheers
Stuart

Your best bet is to give spires a shout, they seem friendly sorts.Stage 1 - replacing middle sections

My understanding is :
- Stage 2 just for some noise.
- Both for performance and even more noise
Not sure what benefits stage 1 by itself brings. Though for some reason I think a bit of performance but no real increase in noise.
To me sounds like you just want stage 2 (back boxes). I'm planning on getting this done in the next month or two.
I've got a 2008 XKR and I've had the Stage 1 (straight-through center) fitted. Volume is up probably around 15 - 20%, maybe 25% at full or near-full throttle. The tone of the sound is largely unchanged really just with that.
I'm contemplating a new back box to go with it now, but I'm not prepared to pay the £1300 (ish) for the XKR stage 2 box (£1500-odd for the one with the active valves) when I can get something like the Mina Gallery or Elite versions of the same thing for around £850.
Is the stage 1 worth it? Definitely yes, if you want a bit more noise without going too over the top.

Pop over to www.jaginfo.org a chap there was just talking about the one he has just had fitted
Not quite an XFR, but my wifey's XF 5.0 has the Spires XFR rear section / silencers fitted and it's epic. Proper muscle car sound, and plenty of volume. On cold start-up it's pretty close to being anti-social (but not quite ) and soon settles down after a few minutes.
There's no droning at speed either, just a nice V8 burble, rising with throttle position. Very hypnotic
