I have just bought from a non Jag dealer a 2004 XJ 3.0 SE on standard factory 18 inch alloys.
Unfortunately the wheel lock key is missing.
I bought a code G key from an established wheel co on ebay but it does not fit.
Rear tyres will need changing soon so would be grateful if any one could give me the correct code (this is actualy on the key or lock nut).
This maybe emotive so perhaps you could pm me.
Many thanks

I don't think there are codes, they are sold as sets

Take the car to a Jag dealer or independant
They should have one that fits in the workshop

Take the locking nuts off and BIN THEM
More trouble than they are worth

Then fit standard nuts

Possibly not what you want to hear but when I went to take off the rears on my '52 S Type, the locking key was split, it was made of seriously thin metal so any over torqued nut would have finished it off.

I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and had all the lockers removed and replaced with OE nuts from the dealers. Just had to convince myself that no one was really going to nick the wheels off an old Jag!

Eurojag may well have the correct key - they did when a local tyre monkey broke my old one.

There was a Jaguar in our hotel car park

They had had a puncture, couldn't find the key so the garage cut round the locking wheel nut with a blow tourch

I have had this problem on 2 of my Jags. The first on an X300, when the locking wheel nut broke. I had the code, and Eurojag came to the rescue, can't praise their service high enough over the years.

The most recent one, could help you. My X350 .. went for tyres, couldn't find the locking wheelnut. I know where it used to be !, and suspect it was lost or misplaced on a service.

Anyway as someone else pointed out, sold by Jaguar as expensive sets. I went to my local independent Jaguar dealer, they have a kit of all of the locking wheel nuts. They removed mine, replaced them with 4 none locking wheel nuts for £10. I'm happy with none locking wheel nuts. I'm on factory alloys, they are not very sought after.

We have also removed the locking nuts from my Wife's Citroen ... after a broken locking wheel nut incident, and having to drill out the offending bolt.

IMHO unless you have a very exotic or sought after wheel/tyre combination then they are a re a pain. Whereabouts are you in the world their is probably a friendly independant Jaguar place nearby. I wouldn't suggest asking a main dealer to do this job for you on cost alone !

Sorry for the update delay.

Went to Westover Jag this morning, they removed the locking nuts and replaced them with standard ones.

Total cost........£7.50

You can buy a new locking nut kit on the web for under £40.oo but is it worth the bother??

Bargain, Chiltern Jaguar charged me £12 !

I was still very happy though !

I didn't replace them with locking ones, didn't seem worth it. Also chucked the ones from my Wife's Citroen for the same reasons.

Well, I just got a shock!

I had exactly the same problem last week, lost the wheel nut key while the spare was on, so now cannot get it off again....

I wouldn't normally name and shame anyone, but Jag main dealer Marshall Cambridge just quoted me £127 to get this done!!

Apparently it needs an hour's labour and the quote is so high as they might not have the right wheel nut key......

Taking the pi**? Oh yeah.

ps - this was to replace the locking wheel nuts with standard ones, so no expensive parts required!

Just to complete the circle (whatever that means, but seems suitable when talking about wheels), I took the car to Grange Jag in Brentwood and they swapped the nuts to standard ones for...... the price of four new wheel nuts.

The wheel nuts aren't cheap, but it saved me over £80 compared to Cambridge and Grange have a new customer smile

Friendly dealer, go visit them they should have a complete set, can look up the code for yours etc.
They may want to charge, a complete set of locking nuts and new key are not cheap!!
You don't say what car? The nuts fitted to X308 Xj and X100 XK are awful and best lost. They can easily be removed by smashing a 17mm socket onto the nut and undoing!!

This. I had this with my 5 series and the dealer had a full set, 19 I think, of adapters. Tried them until found one that fitted and sold it to me for about £15, after which I guess they reorder.

Probably depends on model, I can’t see dealers stocking other than current, if even that.

Why not buy wheel a nut removal socket or set from ebay. These are under size or tapered and you hammer them on. The nut can be removed that way. Or hammer on an under size socket. It will ruin the nut and socket unfortunately. It works.

BTW: best to have a replacement set of nuts or locking nuts to fit back on.

Good luck.
