Anyone here made their XKR a little louder? I think the engine is a little too quiet for a V8. Esp when my mate has his Griff 500! I see Racing Green can put a 1/2 sports exhaust on for about £1500, full is £2500, Anyone done this or know of a different/cheaper alternative?

Thanks.

I've heard the Racing Green one (not sure if it's part of their Arden range of goodies).

It sounds superb

There are alternatives, but none of them cheap.

As well as Racing Green, you can get exhausts from Paramount (www.paramount-performance.com/jaguar-xk8-and-xkr.htm).

TDI (www.tdi-plc.com/JaguarXKR.html) do one that relives more power for just over a grand, but claim it almost keeps the quietness of the original

The only alternative is to look in the USA at someone like JaguarXP (www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Xk8mainoptionpage.htm). They do good systems for a good price at today's exchange rate. Shipping and import duties will bump the price, plus you need to get it fitted locally.

How about one of the custom stainless exhaust fabricators such as Hayward & Scott or Longlife?

Sounds great.

Any reason you choose Paramount and not Racing Green etc.?

It is definately the way forward, saw a black on the M25 on Fri, and it went past me with a very throaty roar, with 2 large bore tailpipes. Was this you?

Got any pics?

Hello to all, this is my first post on PH.
I had the Paramount Grand Prix system fitted to my 97 coupe recently. Not cheap, but not much more than a Jag replacement system as cats are £400 a piece.

Pictures are here-

V nice! How are you finding the noise? Is there a drone or booming at certain rev's on m/way etc? Or is it sounding how a V8 should!

Your thoughts are welcomed.

PS Welcome.

The system is quite loud, any throttle pressure gives noise in the cabin, which is fine when driving spiritedly, but can get a little monotonous on a motorway. On the whole I am very happy with it.One bonus is being able to easily tell which gear you're in and being able to control the changes better with pedal pressure.
Dont know how it sounds compared to other typical V8s
but its not like a yank tank, revs much sweeter.
Just what the Great Jag engine cries out for!
John.

Hi John,

Did you get the option with Paramount of varying sound levels, or is the Grand Prix, take it or leave it.

Cheers.

There was no choice with the special offer price-£1,700 inc tax and fitting. The offer was through the XK8/XKR Enthusiasts Club.

There were 3 noise levels - sport - supersport - and tigercat which has now been withdrawn as it's really a full race system.

It was a long day, 300 mile round trip, they got the car at 11am I got it back at 7pm,needless to say I was exhausted too

Have you tried a Powerflow stainless exhaust from Topgear? They will tailor-make an exhaust while you wait. You choose the type and size of the exit pipes and how loud you want it to be. I had twin 3" ovals/twin exits made for my last car at their depot in St.Albans. It was perfect - looked and sounded great. I'm thinking when I've got the dosh to get one made for my XKR with 4" ovals.
