Buying XK8 Conv'
Discussion
Am considering buying an XK8 Convertible. Around the £40K mark. Does anyone have any advise eg; things to be aware of, extras to make sure it has etc.
Also, what kind of % discount to haggle for, prices seem to vary for very similar spec' cars. I went to a dealer today and they said a normal service costs about £350 is this right?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Spec to go for always should have Sat Nav - a winner come resale time.
Also try to find a car that has 'R' brakes (it is/was an option on the XK8). The normal ones are horrendously bad, and horrendously expensive to upgrade.
In your position, for £40k I definately opt to buy an XKR convertable over the XK8 convertable. A much better car for the money as you get more standard kit, plus that stonking engine. You will NOT be disappointed.
Servicing price seems about right for a standard service. Expect to pay more if anything out of the ordinary turns up.
Both the XK8 and XKR are great cars. Good Luck

Thanks Danny, I will look into the XKR but I think the prices are a bit too high and I would then have to sacrifice the mileage but I may be lucky. I was told that the standard Sat Nav was a bit small and covered the three dials in the middle of the dash. Do you think these are fair comments?
Cheers for your help.
Cheers for your help.
I prefer the Sat Nav to the dials.
As said, it is a winning feature come resale time.
The sat nav is not the best, but it is not bad, has saved me a few times, and looks better than having an ipaq mounted on the dashboard.
Definitly stick with an R. Get one under dealer warranty and it should not be a problem. £40k should buy a decent 2002 model.
