The XKR brakes are crap. Initial bite feels good, but they just don't seemm to haul you to a stop quick enough. It's almost impossible to press the pedal hard enough to get the ABS going, let alone cadence brake.

Anyone upgraded their brakes for less than the thousands of pounds that Racing Green/Paramount want for their upgrade kits?

Will changing either the pads or lines make a difference?

Do newer XK's suffer similarly crap brakes? If not, anyone know if the newer brakes can be fitted to an older (1999) car?

Had exactly the same feeling as you about the stock brakes, awful these are, you need to apply tons of pressure before getting the ABS to work.

I just changed to the original Jaguar big brake upgrade, which cost me a bit more than thousand pounds, but this solved it for me completely, the brakes feel so much lighter.

But I have just heard that the pedal feel could also be improved by just using stainless steel hoses (connected to the calipers). As I have used them in combination with the new complete Brembo set, I cannot tell you how much of an impact you get. However, I can understand that compared to the original rubber hoses, stainless steel ones must give you a better pedal feel.

I guess many could appreciate feedback if you would try this,

Good luck!
