I can't believe it! I have never seen one before. It was the Jaguar that was in Le Mans in the 50's (I think)

Saw it doing about 50mph up the road. How rare are they?

If it is real, then they are about as common as rocking horse excreta. It could have been a replica, there are a few about.

Jaguar made 71 D Types including the 18 team cars.

The XKSS, the two seater road version with a windscreen was rarer; they made only 16 cars. Steve McQueen has one.

Last year I visited the Auto & Technik Museum at Sinsheim in Germany, where they had a D-type on display. Or did they? You could only get up really close to the front and it felt a little too warm to be metal, more like GRP. I managed to take a look underneath the rear from a distance and I was pretty sure it was a replica. It was a bit dark under there but I'm sure it didn't have a live rear axle. Anybody else been there?
