Definitely not an R.
Well done and I hope you enjoy being talked into it as much as I did. Every drive makes me smile.
Haha no, It's a 2009 "XK60" 4.2, half decent mileage for the age, (ticked over 58,000 miles on the way home). I have some misgivings about the service history but the outward condition of the car is good and it's the model and colour I wanted, I suspect I'm going to have to do a few bits of work to it before Le Mans!![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

Here she is, in all her glory. Excuse the singular snap, it's raining and I'd rather update properly in a fresh readers cars thread once it's dry and I've got a few coats of Autoglym on the paint. Thank you all once again.

I haven't seen that display in a while - it is the newer display HMI from the XF too.

I've had my 2010 XK 5.0 Portfolio for a year now, and touch wood, not had any issues.
The XK 5.0 for me is the pick of the range. The same power/performance (more or less) as a 4.2 XKR, but non of the supercharger maintenance/servicing issues to worry about. It obviously also benefits from all of the facelift upgrades such as lights, interior, sound system and more.
I'm usually one for 'more power = better' but the 380bhp in the XK has a really great balance of big power but extractable performance on the roads. Think Goldilocks, just right. You can have fun and ring it out without getting into totally ridiculous license losing figures too quickly. It'll still spin it's rears nearly whenever you want it to, and it's super sharp throttle response and low down grunt from the torquey V8 will definitely keep you on your toes. It steps out easily but is very communicative and the electronics are superbly judged. If anything it lacks rear grip and really needs a good set of rear tyres.
Prices have softened since last year and I even thought they were bargains then. If you want a fast, characterful, good looking V8 with relatively low running costs then there's never been a better time to buy an X150 in my opinion. They're not going to get much cheaper and the good ones will get snapped up.
I'm tempted by one of them as it sounds similar in character to my current E500. Rapid if not super-quick, torquey, relaxed. Basically the same power and torque but 200kg lighter. The XK 5.0 for me is the pick of the range. I've been looking at late 5.0's in dark blue over ivory with all the toys inc the 525 watt B&W setup.
My other option is a 4.2 R but it'll be a bit older, a bit leggier, a little bit more complex (in terms of the s/c anyway).
I've been happily trundling around in a succession of V8 Mercs for 20 years but there's no tin top V8 coupe, hence my interest in X150s.
Absolutely stunning looking things to boot.

I have my eye on a 2010 5.0 in a (fairly) local garage, Is there anything important to ask about and/or check?
Also, I've had a series of AWD car for 19 years, how wary should I be about one of these in wet conditions?
Scrap the Dunlops as soon as you can and in my experience the handling in the wet is simply what you would expect from a large engined rear wheel driven car . You would have to be trying to make it lose traction in order to do so and if it does its very predictable and easily remedied by correcting the steering . Its very predictable and comfortable in normal circumstances though you will hear some road noise with 20" wheels fitted .Also, I've had a series of AWD car for 19 years, how wary should I be about one of these in wet conditions?
I have been looking V8 F-Types or 5.0 XKRs. Whilst I like them & fuel/road tax are not so much an issue for me, my concern with these is the likely change to per mile road charging based on whatever criteria they dream up in the ULEZ zone in London & the other CAZ cities over the next few years - this will seriously impact values I feel. They could become almost impossible to sell on

I just got back from the Le Mans 24hr. The XK fitted all our camping equipment plus bags for the 8 days, did the whole trip without so much as a bulb going. A round trip of just over 1,200 miles, with an average of 34MPG in France doing 110kph, and an average on my return run home from Calais (after dropping off my partner at her home in the east of England) of 38.6mpg doing a steady 65.Frankly, I don't give two hoots if it becomes worth threepence to sell on, nothing I could buy looks this good, goes this well, and bizarrely returns MPG akin to a 2.0 in-line 4 when driven sympathetically. Nothing.

I think it'll go the other way - people who like cars like these (and this doesn't just affect certain Jag models) will move away from cities with these schemes as the location no longer suits their chosen lifestyle. Or at least, those with the means to do so (and likely the means also to own these cars) will.Still looking for a XKR convertible in a good (for me) colour, ie Italian red or green with the ivory sports seats but they seem rare. All are black, white or grey with charcoal.
However this popped up in my perfect spec, but the price made me smile! That is one hell of a bold or ambitious figure.

Maybe I’ll wait until it softens a bit. But a lovely car though.

The mileage isn't helping the price. And Botanical Green is very dark; it needs full sun to actually look green. The best colours (ie the ones you want, like me) are most common in the earlier cars. DB9s have the same colour problem.

The XK Dynamic R was the last run-out "special" at the very end of this model's production. From what I remember they were also heavily discounted. Very good chance the original sale invoice will have a price lower than these jokers are asking.

Even at that mileage that asking price is nonsense. The advert claims it's British Racing Green which would have been a special order colour, if it is BRG and not Botanical Green then sure, maybe worth a couple of grand more to the right buyer - but not 25 grand over market average for a car of that age, mileage and spec.

Yes, the price is nonsense. I merely said that the mileage wasn't helping - ie making it even higher. Then again the dealer might say 'Find another one'. As always the actual price will depend on the need for the seller to sell and the buyer to buy.The XK Dynamic R was the last run-out "special" at the very end of this model's production.
