I noticed a buzzing noise as the car was idling and warming up - it would come on for a few seconds and then go away again. Seems to be coming from the passenger side of the car, perhaps in the sidepod area but I can't quite be sure.

Any ideas what this could be?

Took it to Ascari, Jerez, and Portimao with bookatrack - was fabulous!

If its a slightly off beat with the engine revs sort of zizz zizz zizz noise (I'm guessing it is) its the oil scavenge pump, seem's to be most noticeable with a cold engine, lessening as the oil warms.

do you have paddle shift ? possibly the compressor charging up the air system ?

sounds like you've had a nice taste of track time in some winter sun :-) Ascari looks fabulous

Thanks guys. Yes I have the paddle shift, sounds like that could be it (although I've not noticed this noise before!!)

Will post some videos in due course - Ascari was very good but Portimao was the absolute dog's danglies!

To check if it's the paddle-shift compressor charging itself up (usually it's a fairly low octave constant tone buzz of say two seconds-ish duration), by sitting in the car sans helmet and flicking it in and out of gear, you'll be able to replicate it to confirm; the noise will appear to come from the left just over your shoulder.
