My wife and I just bought a used sr3 from a tall previous owner. We cannot reach the pedals or see above the dash. She is 5 foot 2 and I am 5'6"

We unbolted the seat and slid it forward, but it only moved 2 inches. We are still 5 inches short to the pedals!

How can we get forward or move the pedals. The manual is not much help. Is there a better manual out there?

Also, how do we get more height so we can see better?

Thanks! Very excited to be new radical owners!

You will have to work on both ends! You will need padding in your seat under you and behind you. You can either use foam sheets (like that camping foam stuff) or you could make up a seat insert with expanding foam and a bin bag. I did the expanding foam thing for my daughter. Your aim should be to get the driving position right with regards to line of sight and distance from the steering wheel (and gear lever).

Once you have done that you will need to work on the pedals. There are three adjustments down there. There are several hols (3?) for the bottom of the pedals to bolt to (and pivot from). If you bought from a very tall driver the pedals could be located in the further hole. I think you may need different length pushrods for the brake and clutch master cylinders if you move the pedals.

The second adjustment is between the push rods themselves and the pedals. Lastly you can adjust the pedal "tops" away from the pedal levers.

I think you'll need to put the pedals in the position nearest you.

If you don't have any experience of making a 2 pack seat insert, have a look at my mate Steve's site here: http://www.sjmmarsh.f2s.com/Caterham/

Use the menu on the left of the home page to navigate to "How to build a foam seat" and follow the simple instructions (although of course you won't need a Caterhan seat base from Oxford Trimming as you haven't got a Caterham wink).

It really is pretty simple if you follow Steve's instructions, in fact, it's so simple that even I can make them...............

Thanks for all the advice!

Looks like we are doing a few things:

1) Getting custom seat mounts fabricated to allow us to bring the seat more forward
2) Moving the pedal pivot points towards the driver and extending the pedal faces
3) Getting a bead seat made so we can sit high enough
