What is your opinion about the average lifetime for the clucth?

How often do you change gear?
Do you do standing starts?
How heavy is your car and you?
Do you race or track days?
Was it new when you got it?
slicks or road tyres?
What size tyres?

I know the life depends of usage and....
I' just want to have some infos from other user.
for example:
life time xxx hours for track days / hillclimbing usage
=> about xxx miles...
And so on.

For me I make only Hillclimbing
about 250-300 km per year
I always use clutch for changing gear (i'm a neewbie with this kind of car smile )

P.s. I'm french, so if you can use simple words.....

Thanx

A cluch should last at least 30 rs of racing if you treat it right so I guess it'll last at least that long although extra sticky tyres will stress it more. You should try cluchless upshifts, much easier, and quicker, a slight lift of the throttle to unload the messhing gears and pull the lever firmly. simple, safe and quick, what more could you ask for smile

Standard clutch plates are fine, just need to use aftermarket heavy duty springs.

I know of several Caterham's with Busa motors having been used for hillclimbing with 8 or more standing starts per event in a 16 plus event season last for 3 years on one clutch, mostly seems to depend on the operators use of it....

The clutch that came out of my tuned 1300 Radical PR6 did 29 races in, plus numerous test days & had plenty of life left in it to use again.
