Hello,

I am John and I have just bought a SR3 for trackday use. Obvouisly, I need a trailer to get to and from the circuits. Could someone inform me what the dimensions should be, how low should it be to the ground, how wide, does the trailer have to be totally flat?

Thanks in advance.

Hi John

Here are the actual 'fag paper tight' approximate dimensions for an SR3 RS >

Maximum Length 4130mm (Big end plates & wing left in usual ready to go position)

Maximum Width 1780mm (Happens to be the flared ends of the side skirts just in front of the rear wheels - i.e. the wing itself is actually slightly narrower at about 1710mm)

Brian James RS3 does a great job without wasting anything at all on the width; really low (you'll still need the longer 2.5m ramps plus a technique of looking for a good unloading spot that you'll soon pick up) and yes a totally flat floor is pretty well essential; that's what the BJ RS3 has.

Happy Radicaling, Enjoy! thumbup

If your budget won't stretch to an enclosed trailer the Brian James A max trailer is the one model AM-T-220 takes my SR3 and Pro6.

Okay, thanks for your input.
I am not looking for a closed trailer like the RS3, but the A-max looks just fine for me. Hope I am not going to regret getting an open trailer with an open sportscar...

I started with a good S/H open trailer which over the years I've steadily upgraded to my current RS3.

If find a clean straight secondhand one then you will always get your money back as / if and when you upgrade

Can anyone tell me if the BJ A-sport A-T-551 will work for the SR3? It has the same length and nearly the same width (190 instead of 196). It is available with the longer ramps (240), only thing I couldn't find was the minimum height.

Thanks in advance.

Think that will do the job, couple of things you would need to check as the ramps go onto the trailer would have to make sure you can slide them under the car and I think the trailer might be higher than the a max so even with the 2.4 m ramps you might need wood infront if the ramps to help with loading.
If you call Brain James they will advise you on what is best I found them helpful.

with a 190 width, you have 6cm of space either side rather than 9cm of the 196. You'll need to be a little more accurate loading, but you'll be ok. Regards height, what JP said!

Where could I get a cover that would not blow off when the car was on the trailer?

Hi Guys, looks like my Radial SR3 has a new home (sizeable deposit taken)

Its RS3 trailer is now looking for a good home.

If you're interested, PM me.

This trailer is nicely sorted for use with an SR3 and i has the addition of the wheel rack, tool tray and a bespoke load area that sits above the cockpit of the car. It also has the extended ramps and a beautiful remote control DC winch and battery system (corded remote)

This trailer is Ideal if you don't want to put anything in the tow vehicle!

When loading an SR3 into an RS3 trailer can someone tell me what gap remains between the car and side of the trailer.

The legs of my tyre rack and "tool table" currently fall into this space which is no issue with my SR4 but I may soon need to load an SR3.

Hi there, normally we are very lucky with the quantity of snow..... except for today. would not surprise me if we have 300mm by the morning!

I too am sad, but this year i have not even driven it except for in the paddock of a driver experience company where it was being used to carry paying passengers. Quite a shame really. But i did not want to drive it incase i changed my mind AGAIN!

I think mine might be different. I have seen early tyre racks / tool trays whose legs are bolted to the trailer bed instead of the sides of the trailer so cant comment as i

think that this is the case with yours.

Can't be precise, but I'd say with an RS no more than about 150mm either side. No problem obviously with Dario's, but I wouldn't want to do it with yours Geoff; too much precision required; in theory OK, but much more difficult in reality especially when doing it solo and when manhandling the considerably bigger and heavier SR3 to boot. Solo loading an SR4 or Prosport is a breeze, but an SR3 isn't; Long term for a mostly solo SR3er, I'd regard an electric winch as per Dario's as pretty well essential equipment.
