Has anybody considered or actually removed and discarded the disposable fuel filter which is in the fuel tank compartment. I'm pretty sure that i have some fuel contamination and i have changed the 2nd fuel filter (the one in the engine bay) but now have to remove the lefthand side pod and go through all of polava that is involved.

so i have considered that whilst i'm going through all that a$$ ache for such a mundane item that possibly i should just remove it and bypass it.

Has anybody done this or does anybody think it a poor idea}?

all input is welcome

If you have a car more than a few years old don't do it. The fuel tank foam breaks up over time and the first filter sops it getting any further

It it not worth moving its location to one more accessible?

I'm going to have it apart this week, but if there is an opportunity to modify the location of the filter i will probably do it. if what Simon says is correct (no reason to disbelieve as it makes sense!) then i'll keep 2 in series.

I've done it, getting the sidepod off is the tedius part, after that it's a doddle.

Don't forget to mount the new fuel filter the correct way around, it should have an arrow on it which needs to point in the direction that the fuel flows.
