Hi there...me and my old man are looking into getting an sr3 hayabusa (1500 if poss) radical for trackdays.

Thing is..ive never been in one and was hoping someone who has one would give me a passenger ride (i would pay of course, petrol+ beer money)biggrin., just 1 or 2 laps would be great.this is totally legit, and im not just scrounging a ride for the hell of it,i just dont know how im going to get a ride in one.

I live not far from oulton park,so if anyone is doing a trackday there in the coming months and fancy helping me out, then fantastic.

Ive ran a 400bhp evo 6 on track for 5 years (20+ trackdays),and im under no illusion that the radical will be ALOT faster, its just i havent been in one,and its totally different to the evo of course...but if i sold my evo,i wouldnt want to be disappointed,(as believe it or not, i can pedal my evo..lol)

If anyone can help, please let me know...great.

sr3 1300/1500 hayabusa would be ideal :-)

thanks.

phil

There's some radicals going out at Snett on 14th. Bit of a trek from Oulton though!

If you are coming from 400 turbo horses in an Evo to a Radical they are very different. You may miss that turbo shove you get as you have had to slow the Evo down a lot for a corner and powered out. The acceleration from a Rad is very different. No shove in the back, but amazing braking and cornering. I'd def recommend you checking out that you like the experience.

I'm sure you'll find some willing volunteers!

Maybe you're just getting used to it ..........?

In car speak (therefore irrelevent to Radicalers), I believe that a current (nb no driver aids) Rad SR3 / PR6 does 0-62 in just over 3 secs (make that sub 3 for DSL on a good day!), testament to which is the following heard through my Peltors from my sister as we modestly wellied it out of the pitlane @ Snett on her first Rad Passenger Ride a few months ago >

OhhhhhhhhhhMyyyyyyyyyyyGooooooooodGoddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (shortly followed by) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!!!! (that'll be Riches then)

As a corruption of what RR used to say, in an R (any R) "Performance is Sufficient".

Enough to blow the minds of the hard men from BTCC who keep putting in a guest appearance from time to time. JW's SR8 was apparently clocking near enough 150mph through the Craners last weekend.

You could be right Trev (about getting used to it), but even though that 0-60 1st/2nd is really quick, it doesn't translate to turbo shove on track. So yes it's quick, but does it very differently to what a turbos-the-size-of-dustbin-lids Evo will do!

I suspect the SR8 is quite a bit different judging by the speed it shoots past the SR3.

I woz teasing really. T'is true; whereas with an Evo it's more about how quickly they despatch (therefore what size the dustbin lid is) the straight bits after going relatively slowly around the bendy bits, so Phil, it's unlikely you'll miss/need that monsterous turbo shove so much as you'll be going into, round and out of the corners much much more quickly in a Rad.

As BertBert says, very different approach, but I'd still back a spot on 10 year old 1100 Clubbie quite comfortably getting the better of a 400bhp Evo at most tracks and way more important, that the Clubbie Driver would have a much more satisfying time by being involved right round the track on a SAC basis ........ anyone can go quickly in a straight line, just a question of horsepower - an 700bhp Evo is quicker than a 400bhp Evo in a straightline, but I doubt it's substantially more satisfying; having watched a vid of one of those hyper ones the other night, it seemed to me that the driver was to all intents just an onlooker, steering while the OBE wizardry sorted it all out for him, then off at the very next corner!

There's no chance at all of disappointment, more likely a sense of sheer disbelief, a bloody great grin and the start of an itch for which there is only one cure ............. be warned!

Phil - I'm in the same boat as you, and am trying out an SR3 in a few days here in Australia with Radical Aus. I see that Radical UK do the same thing: http://www.radicalsportscars.com/track-days/trial-...

I know full well the SR3 will be a mile quicker around the same track than my current 180SX track car, but will it provide the same levels of excitement? I don't know...

Would be the best option I think, that way you can actually try before you buy. It's not particularly cheap to do here, but worth it to ensure the wrong decision isn't made.
