On my car there is a button on the right hand side if the steering wheel, something to do with the paddle shift.

The car is a 2010 SR3 RS

Not at all.

The SR3 RS & SR8 share this steering wheel when it's a paddleshift change. On the earlier part 2010 SR3 RS (like ours), it is non-operational whereas on the SR8, for some time now, it puts the gearbox into neutral and locks out the paddleshift paddles; safety-wise that is better as someone pushing you back into the garage can accidentally touch the paddle and put it into gear (like wot I did when JW was in the driver's seat); stall, if it's just ticking over (well done Jon), whoops if there's a bit of throttle being applied; it also makes finding neutral easier which can be a bit if a hassle at first; that said, you'll soon develop the 'just give it the merest brush' technique; I did so you can.

Apparently some SR3 RS owners use it as an intercom speak button - so ours does nothing.

On the very latest SR3 RSs, it is operational as on the SR8, involving an extra box of tricks. I enquired about it, heard that and then lost interest.

Now the only question is what yours does, nothing or something?

PS Yours is amazingly similar looking to ours whistle

Cheers Trev

Make sense now, when in neutral the paddles dont operate the pnu cylinder, then press the button while selecting 1st and all gears can be selected.

Down the box to 1st, press the button, pull the right paddle and it selects neutral.

Its all a learning curve !!

Marshy

Well that's not fair, it's not operational on mine! I haven't managed the brush technique yet either.

Welcome Marshy; remembering our chassis number, your chassis number and who the previous pilots were, thought you'd have it - if they didn't have the latest bells & whistles, who would?

Incidentally, you'll have seen the gathering pace gathering just down the road Oct 14 - not because we thought Nov 14 wasn't a good idea - just couldn't wait that long and the later one leaves it, the colder that vicious North Sea Wind down Revett seems to get !!!!!!!!!!!! Like they say, that wind doesn't go round you, it goes straight through you.

Practice makes perfect - keep telling Will that, but he's still not as adept at it as me woohoo

Oh well, that's covered all the things I do better than him in a Rad laugh
