Looking for advice on a suitable trailer to move the RS about, looked at various options Brian James etc but would appreciate any recomendations, with the fixed front splitter ground clearance is an issue.

The BJ RS3 is fine for ours; you'll need the tyre rack and table (then adopt front end on loading) if you want to get most of your stuff inside the trailer with the car in situ. You'll need the longer 2.5m ramps and then most times some lengths of old scafel board to totally stop it grounding - half of it is about choosing the right piece of concrete to load it down onto/up from and also getting the right angle of 'attack' from how far you wind up the jockey wheel. A few bits of lino to slide the wearing pads to the underside of the splitter onto and along can help considerably at times. The scafel boards can just be slid on top the stored ramps between the wheels when you're trailering.

Hope this helps.

PS I think an enclosed (rather than open) trailer such as the RS3 is by far the best for a Rad providing finances allow.

I have got a Brian James RS5 Race Shuttle for sale if you are after an enclosed trailer. Tilt bed and electric winch. Its simple to load the RS3 on your own.
All the details of the trailer are on B James web site. Can get you some photos if its the sort of thing you are looking for.

Hi

Thanks for all the offers and advice i am still undecided as yet but the A Max looks like the likely option. I would like the shuttle but the ones i have seen for sale are to much for my budget.

Would like to add a Woodford wide body, tilt bed with 10ft ramps. Very good for very low cars. Wheel rack is too narrow though so better to make your own.

I hope that's the right pic (should be us unloading the car). Work blocks flickr, so it was a bit of guesswork...

Dario!

Nice One!

Now that we have the bigger SR3 (so no longer all that left over space we had to play with the SR4), I really must get ours properly fitted/kitted out>

Is all that stuff inside BJ or (knowing what a capable and innovative person you are) did you make it yourself?

What are those two discs on the outside of the trailer front?

Leisure battery in the galv box on the drawbar? How does it charge?

PS Hope OBV is going OK - was going to say see you on Tuesday ......... but you're elsewhere I see cry

Can you please send me some photos of your trailer and also advise what price you're looking for....I may be looking to upgrade my Sprint Shuttle for something a little larger_I seem to need more space for the Radical than I did for the Caterham.

It's a Woodford widebody WB100 TWR (tild bed with ramps). It was the only trailer we could find that'd take the car, get low enough and fit in the garage (had to fit drop plates to the tow vehicles to get it level). All we ordered extra with ours was the centre decking and specified the longest ramps they could fit to it (10ft). Bed is 14'x6'6", overall it's 18'5"x7'5". We made our own wheel rack. Cost was £2406.

Ours isn't for sale I'm afraid (only just got it).

Ha, thanks for the compliment. Its all made by BJ. the front tyre rack and tray was a standard fit from new and the over car stowage was designed by me and manufactured and fitted by BJ for reasonable money considering it was galvanised hot dipped.

What are those two discs on the outside of the trailer front?

They are reflectors!

Leisure battery in the galv box on the drawbar? How does it charge? it charges via the aux socket on a trailer connection, but i just charge it up every now and again.

OBV is doing better and better. we have now broke in to some great areas. I have been supporting 5 drivers in the Chevron GR8 Challenge for some time now with video and data and a few drivers in the Fun Cup. in you include track days, and the postal rental service i think its doing quite well for a nascent business.

I've fitted new systems to a couple of F430 challenge race cars, supporting the Ferrari owners club, Porsche owners club and Morgan owners club. we have done more the 250 hires now and have repeat clients now. The key is to find a few market places where this equipment excels and the price point is not to much of an issue. Then again its not that expensive in relation to the purchase cost vs how useful drivers who are trying to improve find it. Motorcycles next!

where are you this tuesday ?

I'll give you that one Nick -

Gave the car another good run out last Saturday - yet another rainy day at Rockingham.....you know its wet when you have rain running down the INSIDE of your helmet....car ran well and god was it fun......I'm getting some sick enjoyment out of driving this car in the wet.

I think the SR3 *just* fits in the new BJ RS2 trailer? For some bizarre reason, it isn't on the BJ website, but some resellers have info on them.

Bed size 4.3m x 1.95m. Fixed and tilt bed available. A lot lower profile than the RS3. Selling for around £5.5k at present.

Given that you don't want to be strapping it ridiculously tight, I think that length is probably impractically/uncomfortably tight especially as the front/rear profile may restrict things further? 1.95m bed width is the same as the RS3 and that's just enough (only just!) for the SR3 RS.

'As measured from the real thing', here are the actual 'fag paper tight' SR3 RS dimensions >

Maximum Length 4130mm (Big end plates & wing left in usual ready to go position)
Maximum Width 1780mm (Happens to be the flared ends of the side skirts just in front of the rear wheels - i.e. the wing itself is actually slightly narrower at about 1710mm)

I note also the lower profile (from Fergus's description as I haven't seen a pic) and I wonder how that impacts on important fitting-out stuff like the wheel rack etc bearing in mind that the SR3 runs pretty tall i.e. 16" rear wheels?

PS just did a surf and found a pic: I'd say it won't fit and if it did, you wouldn't get much else in with it bar a few pies hehe
