hayabusa starter failure
Discussion
I think I know what you need, I have one on mine.
Billet Idler Gear
The two sides of the gear (input and out put) are connected via a deformed washer (rather than being solid) which, when a large torque is applied will slip slightly to stop the started being damaged.
A note of warning though is that, if you get this and find that after a few years it will not start because it sounds like the battery is flat (ie. slow starter motor sound) it might be that the washer gets loose and needs to be tightened, although with the newer design i'm told this doesn't happen anymore. I'm just giving a heads up since it took me months to track down that problem.
But anyway I digress, if you currently have the standard idler gear looking into the above link.
