Got the radical Bug - SR4 on its way - any advice on set-up.
Discussion
Excellent news and a great set of cars...porky, 7 and rad.
Which SR4 have you bought and from whom? You should really go through it with a fine tooth comb to start with. Not really setup per se, but you need to clean, inspect, wobble and spanner check every inch to get any bugs out. In terms of setup, you need to do a geo setup (prob start from factory specs - I think the manual is on the radical webby) and properly adjust the chain.
Here's an off the top of my head list...
Geo/ride heights
Check and adjust chain
Bleed brakes
Check pad and disc condition
Road test for straight line stopping and disc judder
Bleed clutch and check operation
Check throttle peddle operation and throttle stop
Check wheel bearings
Check suspension components for cracks (especially uprights)
Check all bushes for wear
Check chassis for cracks
Check steering rack (with wheels off the ground) for smooth movement and no stickiness
Check final drive sprockets for wear and bolt tightness
Check gbox output sprocket for same
Check oil
Check coolant
Check bodywork security (clips n all)
Check lights
Check and adjust gear linkage
Check CV joints for grease and wear
Spanner check all nuts n bolts
Check exhaust packing if repackable
Sound level check
Check dash and electrics
Check fire extinguisher
Check cutout switch (not when engine running)
Check reverser
Check harness condition
Check wheels and tyres
Prob loads more, but there's a start. The owners manual will have all this stuff in and more I guess.

Need to know basis it's an absolute beaut.
Geoff will have got a good handle on the what to look for / checking side via his Clubbie.
As to set-up, Geoff's got the number of one of the best ever previously SR4 pilots (the only bloke who could still drive an SR4 like a demon when it had to run without a wing) and he'll soon put him right. Easy improvement step one may involve dumping the Protechs if that's what it's got.

Dad had the other 'non-winged SR4' (http://www.radicalsportscars.com/approved-used-cars/sr4/sr4-1440cc-road-legal) and then once converted, ran at Combe with Protechs which did the job - getting the car into the mid 6's at Combe without the expensive Intrax dampers.
There you go, wrong again .......... I was recounting what the Factory said to me, noting that advice in good faith; there's no other reason why they'd recommend expensive new shocks is there? Incidentally, Dad Darcy's now be-winged SR4 seems to have disappeared out of the showroom .......... perhaps it's sold? ........ now I wonder who?
