Does anyone know if there are any Radical only trackdays this year (more specifically at Spa, but at any track really)?

Peter

Two ROC Exclusively Radical Trackdays provisionally calendared so far: Silverstone GP on 19 July and Spa on 11 October.

You can find a link via 'Willbee' profile.

Console yourself as follows >

Tell yourself it must have been a 6R4 and Jenson Button was moonlighting.

And he cheated .......... he may have gone past on the correct side, but it's definitely a bend, even if flat in fifth in the dry in a Radical - btw, that'll be JW / DSL etc, not me!

On the other hand at the same trackday I did pass a 2cv racer.....several times in fact!

Coram is a strange bend isn't it. I was hopeless round there until I started using a bit more limit vision rather than focussing on turn in and apex cones. Not sure I'm flat in 5th though! Gulp! Probably flat (ish) in 4th.

Anyway, I'm sure it was Gerry Marshall in the Metro. (showing my age, and respect for the greatest tin top driver I ever saw).

IMHO, Coram is a definitely a World Class Bend, especially in the wet with that midway puddle that seems to have mobility!

Yes indeed, the late great GM; many's the time I saw him doing his stuff @ Snett in such as the Bill Blydenstein prepped Baby Bertha; awesome bloke, awesome times - Gerry always had a few stickers going spare for us young 'uns in his fan club.

I think Snetterton is a simply fabulous circuit and far more subtle than it first appears. As for Coram in the wet...no idea. If it rains, we sit in the garage, drink tea and talk bks.

I never saw GM race at Snett. Saw him at Brands many times. The baby bertha era and the sillouette(?) cars were the best racing I've ever seen.

clap to both of those

Jeez how I wish (and so do MSV I'd guess) Snett hadn't sold off it's mind-bending axxe nipping Norwich Straight and Hairpin all those years ago - for the dubious benefit of a Sunday Market that could have been put just about anywhere.

I remember going to Snetterton to watch a Rallycross meeting once upon a time. Anyone else remember that? I don't remember the course layout though. Would have been around the late 70's.

Hi all , yep Snetterton is a great circuit with good mix of corners , Coram and Russell are always fun to see how fast you really can get through and the alternative lines in to the esses are good to compare driving styles.
Its excellent fun to race there in all cars. I remember going there years ago to race in the EuroBoss F1 and having loads of fun !
If anyone needs help with lines and gears i am always happy to help.

cheers

That's terrific. I must confess I didn't know he did any single seater racing, let alone Formula Ford.

Do you still have the car?

Unfortunately not....I sold it to a Dutch Museum to fund my own Formula Ford racing...

Dad did a season of Formula Ford and also drove other historic single-seaters (including Nick Mason's BRM and Novi) but mainly the Grand Prix Aston Martin DBR4 which he won many races in.
The Lotus Formula Ford is now privately-owned again and has been restored and is now in Golf Leaf colours.

Great to see you looking in on here Gregor.

As you'll know, one heck of a lot of folks have great admiration and such fond memories of your Dad, not the least me; and good to see you upholding the 'droop-snoot' family tradition.

Hope us Radical Blokes get to meet up with you & yours sometime, be that at the Races and/or on a trackday. We wind one another up unmercifully, but you'll not meet a nicer, friendlier or more helpful bunch of folks; your Dad would have got on with the Radical Boys N Girls like a house on fire.

Best Regards Meantime.

Cheers Trevor, always great to hear there are still fans of Dad's out there.
I do look in now and then as I follow some Radical stuff as Alex Kapadia is an old friend (he used to live next door to Dad) and I've known him for 20+ years.
I try and catch his YouTube in-car stuff, brilliant stuff.
I'd love a go in a Radical one day but at 6"4 I need to find an accommodating one, bit like Dad in the Lotus FF!!
