Hi all,

Another basic question for you ! I have just treated myself to a DL1 data logger and would like to connect an RPM feed from the 1200 kawasaki engine. As it doesn't have an ECU as such, I was wondering if anyone knew the best way of taking this feed from the engine.

Thanks
James

Hi James - from memory I think you can connect to one of the positive+ leads
to the ignition coils and an earth. They also supply a clamp to pick up from
an HT lead but I couldn't get this to work.

I'm sure Simon T will know the answer!

Keep me informed as I'm also looking to purchase DL1 and had the same question. Looking to their website they don't seem to rate the HT Clip as a reliable means of taking a RPM reading.

You can trigger the DL1 low level RPM input from the +ve side of the coil, or you can tap into the wire that feeds the RPM signal to the dash. Dont forget to set the DL1 up for 1 pulse per Rev as the Radical systems are wasted spark (fires coil every revolution). If you get any problems drop me a mail with a contact number

Cheers

Thanks Simon,

I'll see how I get on with trying to take the feed from the existing cable and drop you a line
if i have any further questions.

Cheers,
James
