is a nit link a antirollbar?if not what is it?and where does it go and what does it do?
Hi Dave: They'll like that @ Peterborough It's a Nik Link.
Yep, it's an ARB, over the top rather than under for obvious reasons, function like it says to reduce rolling over / weight transfer onto the loaded wheel(s).
Look at these pics and you'll see a pic of the one on the back of a PR6, but the same arrangement applies to all Radicals. Front Nik Link works exactly the same, there's a pic of that as well. On the back, the Nik Link is the gold coloured horizontal rod with the collector going above it in the middle >

Did some early clubsports have more conventional ARB's?
I think you're right there Nick ......... someone with the same both ends ARBs (rather than straight one end and cranked the other end 'over the top' Niks) will be along shortly I hope ....... ideally with a couple of pics.I don't run one on the rear of mine. It didn't appear to gave any effect, but then I think the rear springs are too hard for the hills so will be experimenting with softer ones this year. To go with the new Protech double adjustables...
Lindsay, however may have different views, but then he does have something like double the horsepower.

I have an Niklink on the front of my car (Prosport) and a conventional ARB on the back. The rear ARB is the medium bar set pretty soft and the front Niklink is also the medium option.Lindsay, however may have different views, but then he does have something like double the horsepower.
I run harder springs both F&R than most:
1 - from a fundamantal belief that one should use the road springs to suspend the car, rake to adjust the basic balance and the other bits to fine tune the handling.
2 - my car generates more downforce than most and I want to transmit that to the tyres rather than having the car adopt a stance like a mongrel with impacted anal glands
3 - I want to work the front tyres hard in the short time that we have to complete a timed run (see pictures of Force single seaters 3 wheeling round corners and the informed debate on this topic on Uphill Racers if you want more info)
Does a Niklink work? Well, mine does. I've always followed an empirical approach to development. So, if you aren't sure if your Niklink works, do what I did, disconnect it and drive the car hard (preferably with a commodious run-off area available). If you don't notice any difference then it's a fair bet that at least part of your suspension has become a structure rather than a mechanism.
How does a Niklink work? I think that they're actually surprisingly subtle and too complicated to explain without waving my hands in the air. If you really, really need to understand them in detail, then, with the car on stands, remove the spring/damper units and have a play with with the suspension arms, simulating bump, droop and roll, individually and in combination. Assuming that all your pivot points are free you will emerge a more enlightened and happier person.
As for Angus' claims that his engine produces only 105 bhp, (" he [LCM] does have somthing like double the horsepower") my eyes are watering, my flabber is ghasted and my ass is tounded.....................
There's no mystery at all about my engine power. The rear wheel dyno figures are available here: http://www.dyno-plot.co.uk/dyno/dynoplot/id%3D629_... along with a couple of Darren Lukes' engines for comparison. The slightly lower than expected figures for my engine are principally due to the twin chain final drive causing significantly higher losses than a single chain, but note the quality of torque curve. Having 100 ft/lbs available fom 4,300 to 10,500 really makes the car easy to drive, especially out of slow corners.
But it isn't all about power is it?* I broke the Curborough single lap record twice with a fluffy 1500 on carbs that on a good day only gave 180 bhp at the back wheels and to date haven't gone any faster with 30 bhp more!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK double, is an exaggeration, mine peaked at 160 on the rolling road so we call it 50% Sorry, didn't mean to tound your ass.
Hope you are feeling better.

Make it +31.25% and you've got a deal...................
Ah, he says, what about avoirdupoids and power to weight?
Well, I would wager a whole 10p (now, that a lot for a Bairn and a fortune for a braw teuchter) that you're at least 40kg lighter than me, which means that I'm 44.4% heavier than you. So, I've got 31.25% more power but 44.4% more mass. Therefore, you've got a better PTW ratio than me..................
Go on, get out of that then! (Morecombe and Wise - Christmas Special 1973)
Can't you tell that I'm now recovering? Hoping to get back in the car on Wednesday and see if I can remember what all the bits do. I've even sent entries off for Easter Loton so I must be feeling better!
Now, I put it down to the high carb, high protein diet that the doc put me on, washed down with plenty of red wine 'cos it's good for you.
Or was that what I had to avoid?

Don't forget about the lashings of salt and sugar that the Doc also recommended. Can't have you fading away and getting sucked into the airbox, vapourised and then exhausted! Might improve your PTW disadvantage, but it would really upset the aero

Did he say that I should finish every meal with a half pound block of lard (slightly Ukrainian that) or that I should avoid animal fat?
Anyway, should be taking Betty out tomorrow to she if she's still up for it.
Woooohooo!
