Tyre valves

Hi

In the past i have used standard tyre valves from the guy that fits my slicks, are these ok or should i be using the bolt in type ?

That will all depend on if you start rubbing wheels and pop a valve out, i find the fibreglass a tad expensive from the big R so i try to avoid it.biggrin

I'd say not necessary as the pressures we run are pretty low; I always use the 'shorty's' as they are far less likely to get caught and deformed - not every tyre fitting depot has them in stock though.

Definitely use the short ones. They are normally used on motorcycles so if your fitter doesn't have them then they can be sourced from bike dealers/similar.Its always worth having some spares in case other fitters at the track don't have them
