Has anyone got any photos showing the location of the oil drain that goes into the cylinder head of the Powertec ZZR1200? I am changing from ZZR1100 to 1200 so I know where the 1100 one is, just wondered where the Powertec 1200 one goes.

Thanks

Martin

Tim, have you got your shiny new engine from Powertec yet?

Hi Martin

Not sure what you mean but happy to take any photos for you! If I get a few shots with the various braided oil pipes will that do?

Hi Martin - not yet.

They are finishing the engine for the middle of February but If you call Powertec and speak
to Daniel - I'm sure he would be able to help.

Hi Nick,

I need to see where the location of the oil drain from the cylinder head (on the driver's side) is located, the casting is very different from the 1100 (it is located on the angled part that sticks out, the 1200 one in this area is not wide enough (in my opinion.

I see three options,

Position 1 is the best location for oil drain during left hand corners but is very restricted for space inside the head if I use the same method as the 1100 i.e with a lock nut inside the head.
Position 2 is possible but I really don't like the idea of the drain right above the exhaust manifold pipe,
position 3 is easy but is not in a good location for draining the oil in left hand corners.

This is why I would really like to see where the Powertec ones go in the ZZR1200s.

Thanks

Martin

No problem, I'll have a look over the weekend - will try and make it Sat AM if you are trying to get on with it.

It's hard to get a picture as it is right up against the bulkhead but the oil union is directly in line with the spark plug. Hope that helps. PM me a phone number if you want to talk it through - off out and about for a little while.

Nick
