Anyone seen the anouncement about Speed for next year and the tie in with BESCR? Looks very interesting...

Looks very good.
Not had experience running a chain driven car for a 1.5 hours race though.
Fuel tank capacity will be a problem for few I think.....Interested to see the Regs

Silly question, but won't this put BESCR out of the range of the average clubby? 1.5hour races aren't cheap

just a quick heads up:

The mailer that has gone out to the Speed Racing mailing list today has some info relating to registration, cut offs etc. BESCR isn't adopting these.

that is all.

...awaits deletion.

Here's what I have been sent so far sounds pretty good, I like the class structure...

Simon

Class Structure:

Class Capacity (Cubic Centimetres) Minimum Weight
(Kg - Wet with Driver)
A 1501 or More 600
1351 to 1500 550
B 1201 to 1350 500
C 600 to 1200 465

NOTES:
-Turbo motors.
1. max 1300cc
2. weight limits to be advised
3. will run in class A regardless of capacity

-Cars under 550KG will be limited to 1500cc
-Final CC limits will reflect real world capacities of common motors. Ie, small adjustments to make sense of actual capacities for production motors.

Any comments thoughts or suggestions are most welcome, as soon as possible.

Calendar:

2nd - 3rd April Silverstone GP Superleague
23rd May Brands Hatch GP MSVR
26th June Snetterton MSVR
24th July Oulton Park MSVR
16th August TBC MSVR
10th - 11th Sept Silverstone GP LMS

Tyres:
There is much discussion going on about single make tyre rule etc. I am working on this and will present a proposal to ALL drivers before committing. There is much yet to be sorted out with the supplier and without firm, sensible arrangements beneficial to YOU, it won’t go ahead.

Refuelling:
I am waiting to finalise the arrangements needed to make live re fuelling efficient, safe AND affordable. There is a proposal in place and once its firm and sanctioned I’ll be able to provide much more information. Rest assured, it will be cost effective, safe and reliable.

Final Regulations:
Will be in place next week albeit in draft form. We do not foresee any MAJOR technical changes. They will go out to all as soon as I have them, and will be posted on a reworked BESCR website. www.bescr.com

Should be interesting to see you guys on the grid with the rest of us Speed competitors, but a pity you have to pull up and stop halfway through the race hehe

More seriously, be good to have fuller grids

Some bloke I met told me that anyone wanting to run the full 3 hours will be able to run in the Speed invite class, assuming they wanted to be 'class-less' and spend the money.

That's what I heard, anyway. whistle

Interestingly, I'd heard much the same.

Aren't draft technical regs posted on the following link?

Lucky for you we don't appear to have any 6 hour races this year!
I did the 6 hours at Estoril (vdev) which was slightly tiring...and somewhat political

Word of advice at the Metropole JP don't offer to buy a round of drinks as it will be about the same price as a 50 litre drum of sunaco fuel. lol... I kid you not and i haven't been there for years.

Hence the offer to pass out the free nuts!

Was there for a BESCR meeting last year and it was the start of an expensive season!! I think the last straw was the steak sandwiches at 4 am after so much wine I thought it was lunch time. drink

My bag of 'grand gestures' is somewhat used up this year!! cry

Oh, that reminds me, in his drunken stouper, Iain offered me a drive in his Speads once it was finished.....I doubt he realised then the final build cost of the animal he was offering about!!

woohoo

By sheer chance, I've now got a little Carless Hiperflo going begging.

I'll sneak it into the Metropole, if you want to bring your hip-flasks. smile
