Sorry, but another basic question:

How much fuel should I expect my Clubsport to consume in say, 20 minutes on Castle Combe?

Any idea how to check the fuel level?

Thanks in advance

At race pace you should expect using 1 ltr per lap, only way to check your fuel level is to drain the tank via the fuel sampling point.

I used to guess about 1 US Gallon (3.8L) per 8-10 minutes depending on the track. So 20 minutes should be in the 7.5 - 12L range (I realize that's a fairly large range). Only real way to know is to measure.

I just measure how much I put in, when it gets full it is easy to measure how much it takes to fill it again, then keep an eye on long you drive and top up accordingly,

mind you I do only have a two gallon tank. smile

Interesting cove, fuel consumption.

Running at Brands in the freezing cold, in the pouring rain, last November, we were getting 0.88 litres per minute from my standard R1.

Later that day, a little bit warmer, drying - and six seconds a lap faster – we were getting 0.54 litres per minute.

Why? Because it was so cold in the morning that we couldn’t get any heat into the engine and – we presume – the automatic ‘choke’ was still on.

Just some food for thought.

PS
Don't forget, if your racing in the UK, you'll need to finish with a minimum of 3 litres in your tank so the scrutineer can check that you're not using naughty fuel like everybody else is. smile

At race pace round Combe, my 1100 Clubsport used about 12 to 13 litres of fuel for 14 racing laps, warm up, green flag lap and cool down lap. This normally left me with about the right amount in the tank having filled it with 15 litres.

Will you be racing it at Combe next year?
