i'll admit in only new to the world of radicals but having seen one in action recntly i had to have a browse. this is the cheapest i could find. any comments welcome?
it would just be a track car really, not looking to race at the minute

pro's cons? would this be very quick yeah? an idea what sort of times some thing like this could do around oulton. i was doing a slow 2'10 in my e36 M3 in the damp/wet on wednesday

From the photos it's quite a early car with the low roll bars and the colour of the wishbones, if its all there and in good condition should be good.

I would hazard a guess that the last time is a wet time. The others seem to be in the right ball park for a 140bhp bike engined car

I think you might need to do some more research about what you want from a track car (what are you looking for from "very quick yeah"?). The rad clubby is going to be very different from your fat M3. Unless you are running your M3 on slicks, the rad'll go round corners a lot quicker. It'll also stop much quicker. But it's not going to pull away on the straights. In fact it doesn't really have "push in the back" acceleration but it's pretty quick.

It's quick, great fun, superb to learn to drive faster, but it's not going to generate lap times in the "mega-low" bracket. Maybe Pr06 or SR08 might do!

In general Radicals are much more effort to run. They are simple of course, but as race cars (espcecially older ones) there's quite a lot to do and check and they can go wrong quite a lot. With regard to the one for sale, it may be in tip top nick, but it may well be tired especially if it hasn't been used much.

Over the years I've had mine it's had quite a lot done to get it from being a tired race car to a decently reliable race car! Apart from the engine and box rebuild, the good news is that most of the stuff is reasonably cheap.

If you are new to rad ownership, talk to the Owners Club and perhaps get out with some curent owners to see what it's about. Best to go into it with ones eyes open!

Mark Boot's fastest laps earlier this year in 750MC B/E were about 1.50 / 88mph, 2 - 5 seconds quicker than a podium Kuhmo BMW M3 Racer. If that's not quick enough, take off about 10 seconds and add on about 10mph for Darren Luke's Tuned 1300 PR06.

It's been said so many times before, but there's no such thing as a slow Radical. M3? All that power makes it a very nice Road & Trackday car, but unfortunately all that weight .......... needs near enough three times the power to go not so quick as a little old 1100 Clubsport rofl

But at least it stays warm and dry inside biggrin
