As far as I’m aware, the try-outs are for free - once you’ve waivered your life away.

I went last year and it was bitter cold, blustery and sleeting.

Perhaps understandably, lots of the garage doors were closed to keep out the cold and apart from that – to be honest - the whole thing had the feel of a half hearted Motorsport event that the local vicar might have laid on for a bit of fundraising.

This said, it was f*cking cold and I had no interests in try outs, or being driven around by some loon in a Legend. Maybe if I had - and the weather had been kinder - I would have enjoyed it. Which begs the question, why run an outdoor event like this in the UK in November?

Anyway, I left after about an hour and my hands were so cold that I couldn’t push the button on my key to unlock my car.

Just over a month later, I was nice and warm at the AI which, in my opinion - if you go on the trade days - is the place to learn, chat and network.

Obviously, I'm still going this Saturday! Why ever wouldn't I?

In fact, according to the Met Office (0613hrs on Saturday) I'll more likely need my Bermudas and some Piz Buin.1

Well, that's a slight exaggeration, but it looks like the rain will stay away in the daytime.
