Morning all,

one of my lead footed chums broke a driveshaft at Brands last week (I wasn't there so accept no blame).

Probably about time it happened as they are/were the original ones that have been on the car since new (about 6 years!) Originally an 1100 it now runs a 1300 Hybusa lump, but the Quaife and shafts weren't changed at the engine swap.

Question is, we have heard that they are probably from an escort or fiesta(xr2?) but can't seem to find out for certain.

Any ideas chaps? Anxious to get it bolted back together for a day at Bedford on the 16th.

If you track back though the posts, you'll probably find the info that Rob provided.

On the CVs Rob recently gave the relevant references, but I recollect Rob saying that the shafts themselves were specific to Radical, so you need to get them off them?

Here's that very recent post >

Not sure about the SR3, the Club/Pro sport uses one Ford drive shaft, but I suspect that the SR3 are Radical only, unless you can get a engineering firm to make you some up.

I was going to search the posts but it's under maintenance or something.

We have been told that the shafts are standard Ford and Radical get them, stamp R on them and charge a fortune for them. I suspect if you race you need the official bits but as we just pedal around on track days cheaper is better, if they are the right things though. Not going to spoil the ship etc etc.

Thanks for the input so far chaps and if anyone has anything more definate I'd be pleased to hear. Of course, if we get to the bottom of it, I'll let you know.

Don't believe everything you are told about Radical..

Compare the spares prices with that of other race car manufacturers rather than the price you can get cheap, usually chinese, pattern parts for mass produced road cars
