I'm thinking of using the air jacks on my car and have seen others using a portable air bottle.

As I don't have a bottle is it possible to use a portable compressor? If so, what PSI/Bar capacity is required to operate the jacks?

I will also need a Lance too??

Hi

I got my lance from Lister Motorsport.

You will need 19 bar to lift the car.

Whether an air compressor (rather than a nitrogen bottle) will lift them depends on the weight of the car, how many jacks and their rating. Most air jacks require 80-120lbs pressure to start lifting and will lift something like 400kg max load at 20bar each, so on the face of it, a compressor with an SWP of 10 bar (150Psi) should be able to lift about 600kg i.e. 3 x 400 x 50%. So on the face of it, a Radical should be one of the few light enough to make this viable - and safe if shrouds are used as they should be if the car is going to be up in the air for any length of time.

I'll bet there's some Radical (or similar) out there somewhere using air jacks powered by a decent compressor without any issues at all ....... it'd be good to hear from one.

Contact your local BOC office, and rent a nitrogen bottle instead of air. Rental on a nitrogen bottle is about £50 for the year, and they can supply a good nitrogen regulator for £200. That'll do for you tyres as well as the jacks.
