I think it's 50T two piecers from Rad, but Extreme seem to go upto single piece 53T; I think Extreme focus on Busa bits, so whether there's any complications with Kwackers, I don't know, but I wouldn't have thought so .............. but would it actually 'pull' a 53T or anything above 50T?

It was whether the 53 would fit that I wanted to check. I currently have a 50 but on hills and sprints, never get to sixth so I thought I would try the larger gear.

As for whether it pulls. One of us must have our physics askew. Big rear sprocket means lower gearing? I hope so otherwise I am definitely buying the wrong thing.

Thought we were helping one another, wasn't aware it was a ruddy competition! However, it's hereby confirmed that Rusty Bin is the winner, Splitpin's feeble excuse is that his head doesn't work properly until the sixth Espresso and he only had only had five when he wrote that.

Like I said, see not reason why it shouldn't fit, cos irrespective of Kwacker or Busa, presumably it's the Quaife bit that actually matters here; I dare say the blokes at Extreme will have come across this and should be able to confirm.

It was Extreme that raised the question as they had never sold a 53 to a Radicalist. My concern was whether it fitted within the frame. My logic is that three more teeth have only added two more links so if the circumference has grown by two the diameter has grown by two thirds, the radius by a third. A third of link is not a lot and so it should be OK.

I am also low on coffee, that's why when I read your post I had to scribble myself a diagram to make sure. Thanks for the help.

Saw it in half first. That's all Radical do.

Some people on here can take things too literally at times; best add "not through the middle of a tooth" (have a look at a Radical one, sometimes one 'half' is appreciably bigger than the other) and "halved across the face and not on the teeth axis". Then be prepared for the copyright infringement action?

That's why extreme sell them whole, some people like to half them and some don't. Less chance of tight spots on chain when using whole and any other variances, but then again if you're changing it alot.
