Hi all,

Could anyone tell me what happens to the front sprocket cover when the reverse motor is installed?

The clutch slave cylinder is mounted onto this plate so I assume the cover needs to be cut rather
than removed completely?

Thanks Tim

Hi, Yes the cover has to remain with the area covering the sprocked removed, on mine all the mounting lugs remain.

Thanks Colin,

I was intending to mill a 72mm diameter circle out of the cover
to match up with the sprocket. This should allow the reverse drive
to mate up with the sprocket nut (with a bit of clearance)

Can anyone see any potential problems with this? or have any better ideas?

Thanks

Hi Tim,

throw the reverse motor into the back of the garage would be my advice :-) as you know i had intented to keep mine on teh car until it 'let go' at cadwell... and from looking at the mechanism, i am not prepared to let it 'lock' while racing etc.. so took it off, i may look at it again over teh winter - but the mecanism and spring/clips etc that hold the two ball drive sin are not up to the job in my opinion.

Hi Mark,

Totally agree but I don't want to run the risk of failing scrutineering for not having a reverse!
It's so annoying having to spend time and money fitting something that doesn't work and that I don't want!

It looks like I will also have to remove the plate inside the sprocket cover that helps keep the chain on the front sprocket!!!
