Remove the pistons from the Hi-spec brake calipers to replace the seals?

So far have tried a compressed air feed, that blew one out no problem but of course then let all the air out so none of the others budged one bit. Then spent 15 minutes teasing one of the small ones out with brute force & a pair of long nose pliers, surely there must be another way!

Put the one that came out back in. Then get a bit of wood that is about an inch and a bit in width and put this between the pistons. Now when you put the air line on it the pistons will come out until they hit the wood. Once all 4 are against the wood just remove the wood and pop the buggers out. Simples smile

i agree with RobC.

recently did mine on my SR3 all 4 calipers.

got a set of seals for circa £6.00 per pack of 4 seals.... much better than Radicals price.

dont forget the rubber grease as well.

Most motorfactors stock it, at least they do down this way. Other than that try a motorcycle shop.

If one or few pistons doesn't want to came out (even with air), you can also try to heat up the calipers (in an oven at 80°C), works to put back the new ones as well.

A more gentle way is to screw in a grease nipple and pump it out with a manual grease gun

idea Wonder whether Jamie Oliver would be interested in the recipe for heavily aerated, thoroughly greased and gently simmered 'Caliper Special Au Radical'?
