Found some clear track at Brands on Wednesday and the car felt great, a little more could be had but i wanted to take it home in one piece !!!

Thanks for the comment Rob, i know its not perfect still trying to get my head around grip levels of the car and how fast things happens in a Radical, where do you think i can make improvements ?, keep it simple as im no racing driver, a video link would be good ?

Looks pretty good, as Rob says concentrate on making all the apex's accurately then its just a case of driving the tyres to the limit the whole way round for the best times. Apex's conveniently marked out by cones from what I can see on your video!

To be honest you should get a race license & do it properly, as trying to turn fast laps on track days with a Radical amongst normal road cars is not really that safe for any of you in my opinion.......

a 47 would have had you on the front row of the last BESCR race there... and the atmosphere and adrenalin of racing would surely make the whole experience more enjoyable than sterring through tin tops on a track day ?

looks very smooth and fuss free.. didn't 'feel' like a 47 lap to me - but i guess the SR3 is that much more civilised than the prosport... or maybe its just decent tyres on yours !!

Only ribbing you Marshy, like the guys said above you'd be very competitive in the Bike engine series. My advice would be to knock it off 10% and concentrate on the lines, you've already proved you've got speed so once you have the lines nailed you'll be flying (even quicker).

It's a pity that neither of you were able to do the exclusively Radical ROC Inaugural Trackday, because you'd realise that this a format that addresses these concerns and gives most all of the pleasures of being on track without incompatible cars constantly getting in the way and all without the high actual and potential attrition costs that all out racing can bring.

To my mind, what ROC Trackdays do is to offer an ideal midpoint - a stepping stone to racing if that's the way you want to go or just a fantastic & very social way of enjoying your Rad towards or at it's full potential. Marshy did the IT, had his best ever trackday in the UK and frankly, with that video, the results speak for themselves. The odd apex to be modestly improved (the cones are never in the right place for a Radical & Marshy - rightly in my view - avoids running the kerbs heavily), but already quick enough to get on the front row of a grid.

Not half bad for 'just a Trackdayer'. In fact, brilliant - well done Marshy! smile

Thank you all for your comments, as you can tell im living the dream driving the Radical, driving it to my max ability is the best feeling ever, coming from tin tops i still find it hard to string together the perfect lap, instruction in the car is hard as you cant hear your instructor and things happen really fast.

As for racing i think im getting the bug, concentrate this year on doing all the main tracks a couple of times to improve my line and the next year if the funds are available you will see the car entered a in a couple of events finger crossed.

What does a normal no damage weekend racing cost ?

ohh... can of worms time...

in theory racing 'could' work out cheaper than your track days.. not cheaper per minute of track time... but cheaper due to less track time racing - less wear/tear, fewer tyres etc..

of course it depends on how competitive you want to be, how much you spend developing your car, whether you pay to test.. do you get a team to run the car for you etc etc..

I did the BESCR brands wk end as my first race in england.. and my first race on slicks (i race in roadsports class in Ireland) and apart from the rather high travel costs for me, the wk end would be similar costs to any track day there - maybe slightly more expensive entry vs track day costs, but then less fuel, tyre wear and general wear and tear in the car..

To get 'race legal' factor in ards test and club membership etc.. say £3-500 max to get that sorted.. assuming you have legal helmet, suit etc.. you're sorted :-)

having said the above.. i think once you sample racing.. the buzz in the paddock, nerves at the holding area, grid etc.. you will probably do very few track days after your first race..

Your driving looks very controlled and smooth - which i think is the key thing, and given a 47s lap at brands, you know you'l' be extremely competitive right now - go for it.. i doubt you'll look back..
