Well - I survived my first wk end racing in England, 804 mile round trip to brands.. the guys even put on good weather for us !!

Thanks to the BESCR guys for putting on a great show, and what looks to me a great series in the making.. I wasn't looking forward to the 30 min race, nor pit stops etc... but after that race in particular, i really enjoyed the dynamics of mixing the grid up - and got the interest to push again while being passed by the quick guys, and trying to pass others...

I plan to pop back over for Cadwell, the car felt great on slicks.. albeit 2 year old ones - can only imagine what new rubber must be like !! also need to get to the bottom of bad understeer which i couldn't dial out on the day...

Credit to JP and the team

If anyone knows of photographers/websites that may have pictures let me know - would be nice to get some printed :-)

Don't try to dial out understeer whilst using shot at tyres.

Try putting new rubber on & hey presto the understeer will no doubt disappear as long as your base settings are something like!

Hi

Great to share the garage with you, and really glad you had a positive weekend.

We had the same problem with the understeer, and also concluded our tyres were shot. In fact by the end of Sunday, the casing was starting to show through on the NSF

We wont be at Cadwell, but hope to meet again soon.

Good Luck

will 'stick' with these tyres for cadwell.. i think its more to do with set up than the rubber being shot... but who knows !!

Gary - didn't relaise you were 'gaxor' from here !! thanks for the lend of the cable.. and potentially the dremel, although my mate decided a hand file was the job for the arch.. i now also think i know what was causing the tyre rub..

It was a good day's racing. I think we all suffered from understeer. I managed to dial mine out rather too effectively fdor the first race

It was fun to get a speding penalty for speeding on my drive through penalty for speeding

lol at the penalty for speeding whilst serving your penalty... i actually thought i had got pulled again when i saw the stop/go board again - nearly went straight on an paddock hill trying to see the tiny mumbers they used..

i was doing 67km/h so only 7 over... I did suggest they hook their detector up to a screen to indicate our current speed...

all in all a great wk end though

You say two year old second hand slicks.......

They were ragged by someone else then sold to you & two years later you think they are probably ok, your kidding me right!?!

Believe me I am new(ish) to this lark & I would not of thought that a tyre that to all intents & purposes looks absolutely fine & dandy with loads of rubber left on it could be completely useless in practice, turning a race car into a shopping trolley either!

Unfortunately I experienced exactly this myself at Cadwell at the weekend, check out the difference in race pace lap times from me on tyres that were new last Oct but had maybe 14 heat cycles by Cadwell, to a newer set with only a couple of heat cycles fitted for race two, look here--

Darren Luke.

Mark sorry I didn't even come the two garages down to say hi, I might be able to cure your understeer problem take some rear wing off as I noticed it was a high as you could get it!!!

no problem JPI its all a bit frantic with qual & two races in a day... yea the wing was set rather 'high' i guess... my issue is probably more spring rate related though - as i normally pedal this car on road legal tyres...

Darren - i hear ya on the tyres mate :-) but the limiting factor is me.. learning these new tracks at the mo rather than getting the last few tenths out of the rubber..

am looking forward to cadwell already :-)
