Hi Guys,

thinking it may be a good idea to carry a spare chain... is it just a matter of grabbing a 530 pitch chain from a bike shop ?? O Ring the std fitment ???

Hi Mark

I'm presuming your stocking up for our BESCR race, at Brands, this weekend. cool

IMO, DID 520 HD X Ring Gold chain and Putoline DX11 chain lube.

I've got a DID riveter should you need to use if and loads of DX11, if you're struggling, but thanks to our rolling starts, you're less likely to be pinging your chain, anyway.

Well...that's the plan...

As an experienced abuser / replacer of Radical chains, I have found the Tsubaki chain below better than the DID.

B & C express sell the Tsubaki Sigma X ring gold 74link for PR6 at £65+VAT, plus the chain setting tool for £61.30+VAT that is miles easier to use than the DID one.

thanks guys..

I'm pretty sure its a 530 pitch on mine, so i assuming they all need to be cut to length for our cars its just a matter of whether i chose o ring, X ring etc and brand ?

Yep - spare for brands... just in case !! but yes the rolling starts should be much easier, and saves me trying to practice starts with the slicks which in theory shoudl be harder on the chain than the road tyres i generally use

530 is what I used to run. Strangly I found that the cheaper o-ring chains lasted longer than the "x" ring ones. Top tip though is, if you haven't already, get a decent chain breaker.

Rob when you say lasted longer... did they brake or did you replace them before they got to that point? if so how did you go about assessing their condition? I have not changed mine and just wondered...

Scott

I had an amazing ability of stretching the hell out of the expensive ones, killed new ones in one meeting more than once. The cheaper ones survived my starts a lot better...I am talking about RK chains here though, other makes might be better.
