Ummmm After all my hard work over the past 7 months or so I am a bit downbeat as I have got my first few points in the last 2 races and the car is faster than last year by 4.5 seconds, but I know that without more power there is only a second or so more to come out of the car.. and I can't stop thinking what if I had a competative car.. Why can't I just make do with 7th or 8th and having a jolly good time..

Anyway I have come across a Jade supersports built in 1996, with 200 bhp Vauxhall Red top.. on LD200 hewland box now this has good tuining protential and should be capable of good things.. although the box is restricted to about 160lb/ft of tourqu, the car only weights 485Kg so its actually lighter than the clubsport.. Just.

Tempting....

Talk me out of it guys.. or make me a good offer for mine..

Good engine, and another 30bhp is resonably easy to get. 230bhp + 485kg should see sub 1.06's at Combe assuming the chassis is upto it.

Hi Scott,

Dont know the car as such but it was at Combe all last year and was reliable. Except for its power, I think its the same as Mark Burtons Jade which is an extremely quick car.

Had a chat with Tom last year about it and it has hardly done any work, its immaculate too.

Dad races/raced the yellow SR4 1400 there last year and on the weekend (he came 3rd). He has bought a Nemesis RME (another ex-supersport car)due to the power needed to keep up with the big bike engined stuff, he should be out in it a few times at Combe this year once tested.

There isn't much else for sale at the moment, I think Toms would be the only option unless you wait untill the end of the season.

Josh

He races in SEMSEC at Lydden and sometimes Brands. Also does the odd MSVR race at Brands.

Its a 2.0ltr red top with fuel injection. Around 300bhp apparently.

Speak to Jade, they will have more info on Toms car and if it is any different to Mark Burtons in terms of chassis etc

How does his car compare with Radical's SR3/Prosport 1500's in terms of lap times and results..?

Quick search shows Mark's Jade doing mid 46's around Brands. Best non-SR8 Radical was Mr Wright with a mid 44 (which is a blimding lap time tbh). So it looks like it is comparable to a good/well driven Radical

Well here it is.....

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1028795.htm

Yes I know that's quite a lot of money.. but trust me if someone wants a mint good looking car this is the only one around in terms of every bit being nice and clean due to all new bolts, parts, paint etc...

Also I have personally put about...... wow..thinking about it probably 500 hours into this car.. and this price reflects some of that hard work.

Hi Scott my Dad had a 2ltr Jade (in 2003) before we moved up to the 3.5ltr larger model and it's a fantastic car, very easy to drive and super fast.I had a Radical Club Sport at the time which I did track days in before taken up racing with it,I did my first season racing it at lydden before my Dad let me race his Jade for the first time at the 2ltr Super Sports race at Silverstone, this is how good the car is I'd never driven it before or driven Silverstone and I qualified 4th and was running in a safe 2nd with a few laps to go when I suffered a stuck throttle and had to retire, that was a maintained issue with the team and not the cars fault.I never raced my Radical again and spent the next 2 years racing a Jade and loving every minute of it.As of lap times as I remember Silverstone Nat was in the 55's.Brands was in the low 46's Combe 1.04's and Lydden I'm sure Mike Roberts got into the 38's.I Know Mark Burton so if you would like me to pass on your number or email I can.
Chris.

Also if you go for big power,we had 360bhp in are 3.5ltr then the lap times really come down,i did mid 44's at Brands 1.19 at Silverstone Inter and Tony sinclare(Jade's Designer)got very close to a 1min lap at Combe, they are a proper racing car smile

Before someone steps in and reminds you guys this is the Radical Forum, would be interested to know how these times compare with say JW in his PR06 with about 100bhp less or the (now lower powered version of an) SR8 with similar ponies?

BTW, Jade could do with spending a bit of time/making a bit more of an effort on their website? > http://www.jademotorsport.com/

PR6 does 45s at brands,
An SR8 does 43.7s with Ross Kaiser sat in it.

Castle Combe PR6 1m04.59
Castle Combe SR8 1m01.36 with Stuart Moseley

(According to Radical website)

However, the 2.0ltr Jade is around £12k, whereas the cheapest 2nd hand PR6 is likely to be around £30k.

I think Alan Hoggs 3.0ltr V6 Jade 2 is about £49k at the moment.
