Hi All,

I'm sorry I missed the ROC day, it looked excellent, but my SR4 has been away for a couple of weeks at Slipstream Racing having the Diff rebuilt. It's now been upgraded to the "8 bolt" version as it turns out I had some how managed to snap a bolt in it.

One other niggle that I would like to sort is that the gear indicator on the dash doesn't work, although the neutral light does come on. Does anyone know if this is a fixable fault or is it a new dash job ?

On the subject of new dashboards has anyone upgraded to something like a Race Technology "dash 2" ?

Many Thanks

James

Hi
You dont say which engine you are running, but if it is a Kawasaki, it is a known problem that the gear indicator light doesnt work

Cheers Gary,

It is a Kawasaki...do I just have to live with it, or can something be done ?

James are you taking about that very very small gear postion number that appears (bottom right from memory) on Radical's otherwise excellent standard SR4 dash? If so, I wouldn't be worrying about it being AWOL; your eyes may well be better than mine, but personally, I wouldn't want to be trying to spot that little display even if it was working! Get a Geartronics (?) thingie that gives you (me) a nice big number right in your line of sight. Got one on mine (not in front of me at the mo, so that why I'm trying to do it from memory) and it suits my (contact lensed for distance vision) eyes just fine. Recollect about a £100?

Trevor - I noticed that last week and had a bit of gear-indicator-envy. Did you fit it yourself and if so is it an easy job to do?

Nick/James

Unfortunately (or fortunately for me) the previous owner fitted it, himself he recollects, which augers well, but let's not forget he is (they are) way more adept and proficient at such stuff than I am.

Think the best approach is for one of you to contact Geartronics on behalf of you both as you both have Kwackers > From their website >

To enquire about any of our products, or simply to ask our advice, you can email us at:

That said, I seem to recollect a thread not so long ago where the chap from Geartronics (sorry can't remember his handle at the mo) was discussing paddle shifts (which they make) in great and impressively technical detail, so maybe he'll spot this and input accordingly?

I note that it's bit pricier than I remembered and that Radical's gear indicator is a bit more to the left hand side of the dash display ....... that's what comes of doing it blind at work. Apologies for that.

BTW, I seem to have their 'classic display' i.e. 30mm high digits - very clear readout and hasn't missed a beat so far. Has a little hole below the LCD which I guess is the light intensity 'reader'. No hesitation in recommending it.

PS Edit Found the thread / man > Neil Wallace of Geartronics, thread about flatshifters > sorry Neil, me and names, mutter, mutter!

I thought the only way to do it on a kawasaki is to use a wheel speed/revs device which are notoriously unreliable?
If one works, I'd quite like one too.

I'll contact them and post what I find out on here...

Maybe if there is enough of us some sort of group buy would be possible.
