I am conducting a survey. I have bought a pro6 with a paddle shift. it dosent work. Speaking to most people at rockingham they have given up with theirs or are having the same problems as me. I am inclined to do the same but it is £4,500 worth of kit aren't we letting R of the hook? If everyone insisted that R sort out the problems we would have a product that is fit for the purpose. Can you think of anything other £4,500 product you would purchase that you would just walk away from if it didn't work. Any thoughts?

Mine generally is fine with paddles.Had a small error Saturday on a down shift, but I think it was operator error, should have been in 4th down to 2nd, but was in 5th for some reason, down 2 into 3rd, bogged down, panicked and got neutral.Still laughing about it now!!!

Flippin'eck .......... this afternoon, a little birdie told me our Darren got awarded "Driver of The Day" @ Rockingham on Saturday for his astonishing efforts & achievements in Race 2 .......... makes you wonder what'll happen when he gets a decent set of stoppers & and an 'auto box' .......... be afraid, be very afraid!

100% sound bloke our Gary - turn that saying on it's head; a great workman never blames his tools. Very refreshing & typical of GK.

clap

Left arm for pulling the big long stick thing gear lever in my car & was guessing you guys may also have the autoblip on the down shifts with the paddle shift? Where as I had to use heel & toe manual blipping!

Bad, we were running less wing than you I think, so the back end was surprising loose round the twisty bits, but ok on the straights. But with the same set up in the UK cup race we completely trashed the fronts!! Any ideas?

Mmmm not sure, but you could try going a bit slower!

Its all new to me to be honest & I have a lot to learn about this game......but my understanding is that reducing rear wing rarely makes for a faster lap time?

I was quite surprised just how much the tyres went off after 10/12mins at full pelt, may of been too much pressure in the tyres to begin with though?

Darren,

Try running 35 psi, you will probably find that it cures the problem. That should be perfect for Brands at the weekend........ wink

I may be green, but not that cabbage like!

Going to be carrying my braking issue with me for Brands as no time to implement the fix, so promise to go easy on me will you!

Getting back to Barry's original question.......

Personally I have no experience of the Radical airshift system, which in principle sounds fantastic if it can be made to work reliably. Seemingly this is the problem with it from talking to a few of the race guys who have had it fitted & then taken it off again?

However I do know of this system working 100% reliably for two years when installed in a Caterham seven operating an Elite sequential six speed box, which must be much harder work for it due to the heavier construction of the box, so maybe its just one of those things that requires a hell of a lot of faffing to get all the tolerances within certain perimeters where it works successfully.

It does seem to be a shame that the general sentiment is that its too troublesome to keep on the car, as it should be a decent advantage in posting reduced lap times..........

Just had our engine refreshed by Powertec. The engine was generally OK but the gearbox dogs were badly worn and therefore several gears had to be replaced (at some expense!). Powertec said that there was a non standard attachement to the throttle bodies which was probably something to do with a blipper (not fitted now) - so beware, throttle blippers could cost you money if not adjusted correctly.

I am racing in the 750MC bikesports this Sunday at Brands, that's the reason I have not got a big fat 1500cc motor which would be a bit more handy for the Clubmans cup, in place of my weedy little 1300cc......

But won't be doing the test day before the clubman Brands round, am hoping to remember the layout!
