Had a great day at Rockingham for the first race of the season for the Clubmans and UK cup. Well done to Jonathan Wright for his wins in both the series races. Well done also to Derek Johnston who co-drove with Jonathan in the UK series. Gary Kane had a well earned class win whilst Tony Freeman and Duncan Williams also went really well despite some early on car problems. Commiserations to Darren Luke who came through qualifying to second on the grid for the first race only to have some unfortunate luck with a stretched chain.

Had to leave before the second Clubmans race. If someone could let me know what the results were, Id be interested to hear.

Hi you little bleeder, brake bleeder that is!! Thanks very much for stepping into the breach & you & your father? assisting me with the emergency brake bleed which helped for race two but is still not right with a soft peddle from 3 or 4 laps in, bugger.....

Anyway back to race two....... I started last on the grid having pulled out of race one after half a lap with the buggered chain, managed to pull the pin and grab a consolation 2nd place after one or two daring do overtaking maneuvers especially with Mr Kane!

Jonathan was his customary first place, with me behind & Gary Kane in third.

Last to second, that was a result and a half Darren! Exceptionally well done sir! I presume you got a bit of a better getaway and that the new chain held out. Did you slip the clutch or maybe you just didnt give it the full hillclimb whack this time? wink

Sounds great fun! My foot is finally healing, so I'll be there for club cup R2 in June. Also hopefully at some MSV or BESCR races before then.

Well a more measured approach combining plenty of revs & a slower introduction of the clutch made for a pretty decent get away which was a relief after the race one disaster, enabling me to pass I think around 14 cars by the end of the first lap!

Great result Darren & glad we could help in some modest way; I'm really looking forward to seeing shall we just say "something of a tussle" between Jonathan (whose relentless and astonishing pace I still find utterly amazing & mesmorising)& yourself when you get the brake problem sorted, particularly as you subsequently seem to have found a way of avoiding a LCM style twin chain drive!

Like everyone we met at the event (great to put lots of friendly faces to so many names) Jonathan and yourself are both genuine enthusiasts & top blokes, so all I can say is bring it on and may the best man win!

Whilst posting, can I just mention Mark Boot's post about wanting to get hold of a ZZR engine, as one of his mate's let go at the event, pretty much a disaster for guys on a tight budget at the first race of the season; having spoken to Mark & some of his mates, guys like these are the grass roots of where Radical has come from, so if anyone can help, I can personally vouch that genuine guys like these thoroughly deserve it.

Really appreciated the help, I was up poop creak without a paddle without your's & Will's interventionsmile

As for racing Jonathan, I shall be trying my best to get close, but as a new boy I have not even been to three of the remaining race circuits so may struggle somewhat......Not to mention the 200cc engine deficit, Rob at Mistral may be getting a call to knock me up a stroker motor soon!

He retired from race two after about 5 laps with what I think was highish water temp.
