I have been lurking around this and other sites for sometime and finances permitting would like to have a season racing radicals in the UK and Europe next year. My questions are as follows

1. What would be the best choice of car for a relative novice - some kart and FVee experience,no SR8 for me. Depending on finances and ability my aim would be perhaps V de V or Speed at at a later time

2. What series can I run in 750MC, SEMSEC etc. I understand that anything officially run by Radical is outrageously dear as motors have to be sealed etc.

3.My aim would be to get as much seat time as possible in the period say March - October, even if it meant racing most weekends as well as track days and coaching, sharing if necessary for longer distance races. While we all have budgets to worry about I am prepared to go as high as 50K (say 2k per weekend if that is realistic),excluding car cost which I presume can get a least part back at the end of the season.

4. I would prefer to purchase a car and have it run by an experienced operator. I have no illusions about my ability and would be happy with a team that can keep a car reliably running in the midfield.

Are my hopes realistic, I look forward to comments, suggestions and criticisms

All of the organisations you mentioned are good places to start with. One you have missed is BESCR http://www.bescr.com/ this is a new organisation solely for Bike Engine Sports Car Racing, the rules and regs are optimised for close competitive racing at a variety of venues with good value track time rating high on the list of priorities. I believe most meets will comprise of a 20min sprint race and a 20min compulsory pit stop race (opportunity for driver change if sharing a car. We are told there will be some hospitality in the form of a meet and greet area for competitors, and TV coverage.

With respect to Radical organised events, I would encourage you to look a little deeper into the Clubmans Cup. It is a little dearer possibly, but is supported by Radical, and includes hospitality and spares. The chances are that if you buy a decent Radical it will have a sealed Powertec engine anyway.

Good luck with your research, and come along to any of the above 2 series during the year to see for yourself. (We are running an SR4 1300 no 80 or 30 depending on driver/series

eeek, watch it sydneyboy! If you get any emails from dodgy people called Graham, watch out!

Seriously though, I am racing with lanan this year and from the experience so far (including one day out) they are excellent. I have high hopes of them! I'll be crap, so I need all the help I can get!
