Hi

Just repacked my cv joints and found some play between the splined drive shaft and the cv joint, is this normal ?, could do with a set of drive shafts c/w cv joints as spares, is this a Radical only supply or is there an after market supplier ?

Regards

A small amount of play is normal, assume you are talking rotational play

Paul, there are old and new style shafts. the new style shaft is constructed differently to the new.

my old style short shaft when it failed did so just ahead of the inboard snap ring grove next to where the splined shaft meets teh outer CV joint. good place to look.

PS old race mechanic told me to always ensure that when taking a shaft off the car to always have the shaft rotating in one direction only as changing the shaft right to left can have consequences.

some guys used to paint a line down the side of the shaft end to end. end of a season they could see the amount of twist the shaft had suffered by the deviaton on the line.
