Hi guys,

I saw the Radical support race for the LMS at Silverstone last September and was massively impressed with what i saw.

Ive just downloaded the user manual for the sr8, and i noticed that it states that you must use the clutch on downshifts (so as its a sequential manual, im guessing they want you to come off the gas, press the brake with your right foot, clutch in with your left, blip the engine with the outside of your right foot, press the gearlever forward to push in the lower gear, release the clutch pedal).
I havent sat in one of these cars but was wondering whether the steering column prevents your left foot from coming over to the brake pedal? Would it be possible to left foot brake and use the accelerator to unload the dogs on downshifting instead of using the clutch (so off the gas, onto the brake, preload the shifter with your hand, wait for revs to drop suffiently and then blip the gas to unload the dogs, out pops the high gear and in goes the lower gear?). Would that work in the sr8, and if not, why not?

Best regards,

Alex

It should work as there are systems on the market that will do that exact thing for you, I may try manually doing it myself as I would like to use my left foot for braking rather than my right...

I suspect that the usual combo of little or no flywheel effect and even less time to orchestrate events in an SR8 means that left foot clutch dipping in combo with heel & toe is the way to go.

Suffices/sufficed for the likes of Gods like Michael Vergers, so I'd guess that it'll do for most of the Mortals.

If you want/need to expand the time frame/left foot brake, get an auto blipper? And when you put the order in for it, don't forget to tick the box for the Pit Crew that you'll need to get an SR8 moving !
