The time has come when I best get on and buy some new tyres, I have a choice of Avon Radials, or Dunlop Radials?
Avon is just round the corner and will fit and balance them for free? but Dunlops are used in the Radical championship so would leave my options open?
Can you get different compounds in the Dunlops and if so what would people suggest from experiance? also what camber angle's are needed front and rear for a clubsport/prosport with high downforce? I was running crossplys last year so don't really have a feel for Radial requirements but believe its 3 degree's front 1.5 ish rear?

If you want to go/keep radial, what about Michelins? Not exactly a little known name(!) and they are considered good enough for Formula BMW & Formula Renault and many others series worldwide.
(And they have been on the odd F1 Championship wining car over the years)
Just a thought.

I have the high camber front wishbones so should be able to provide enough front camber.. although I only have the origional rear ones? so rear camber will be harder to achieve although I have seen some half nuts to suit the rose joints which should give and extra 1.5 degrees or so.. one concern I have is the rear toe in? as I have old wishbones which don't have the new style bearing to allow free adjustment of rear toe, I think it maybe hard to get the 2-3mm of toe in required for Radial tyres?
The more I think about this the more I think I may stick with crossply's....

IF you are interested I have a few sets of good s/hand Dunlops
Can't rely understand why Trackday Guys would want to lash out on anything other than top notch part worns - Racers, then fair enough, brand new slicks make sense.IF you are interested I have a few sets of good s/hand Dunlops
Likewise, I can access part worn Michelins Drys & Wets - Drys would be latter half of last season, some even from testing from this season - yep the boys are already on it!
Whatever Make you go with, suggest you never knowingly buy old Dry slicks, nor those that haven't been stored properly. If Dry slicks are any older than second half of 2007, as far as a Radical is concerned, don't buy them and if you've got some, scrap them. Age not such an issue with Wets - in any event, they are usually more difficult to get hold of as the Teams tend to keep them longer to make use of the remaining tread depths - full/near enough full tread obviously full Wets, less say half tread regarded as good as Intermediates, umpteen variations in between.
Trust of assistance
Hi Scott
Just so you don't misunderstand my last post, that was making it's way down the fibre optics before I went back onto the RF and read your latest one......I have no idea whether you're a Trackdayer or Racer!
My point about top notch part worns being good for Trackdayers is that two sets of four (which might suffice to a whole season of trackdaying?) part worns aren't that much more expensive than one (yes one) brand new slick and a lot of Trackdayers carry neither the speed nor have the circumstances to take advantage of the increased ability of new (properly heat cycled) slicks.

Hello folks,
sorry to intrude on your forum (lowly westfield XTR2 owner), but have you guys got any suggestions where I could find part worn tyres in the Glasgow area, currently running Avon CR500's but they're extortionate....
not sure how much life is left in my Pirelli cut slicks
thanks
