Have run a 1000cc Prosport for about 5 years, and have recently "upgraded" to a 1300cc SR3. Dry sumped, using the stock Suzuki wiring harness, ecu and injection.

Going to rebuild the motor, an '07 bone stock, over the winter. Wondering what the brain trust can suggest in the way of modification to make sure the 1300 is as bullet proof as possible. Parts I'm considering so far:
- uprated rods (Carillo or similar)
- Ti valve springs and retainers
- billet clutch basket
- high strength trans output shaft
- back cut trans (up and down)
- solid steel shift shafts

All this in addition to the usual refresh (bearings, cam chain, seals, gaskets, inspect/measure everything not replaced).

Avoiding the "upgrade part x for more power" disease this time around. Have a buddy trying to talk me into a TTS Supercharger.

Thanks in advance!

I run a 1500 with all the mods you have stated bar the titanium springs and retainers.
Weak point from my experiance is the cam chain which snapped once in three years of usage (bent valves & destroyed piston).

APE do a roller chain conversion which is supposed to eliminate this weak link, however engine builders have different views on it (Richard at TTS for one reckons it's not worth it). I believe there is someone on here who has gone that route, maybe he can share his view on it!?

I agree that the supercharger- conversion is tempting...

My engine builder also suggested the roller cam chain conversion, but said it's quite difficult to setup. Although he figures he's got it sorted now.

i had a cam chain fail just 2 hours afyer purchasing my SR3 2 years ago. i investigated the cam chain thing and inspected my original chain. i have to say that the Suzuki original chain is pants in the way it is constructed.

the roller chain version with new sprockets is the way to go for peace of mind. the guys that make this engine produce crazy horse power make this mod first.

oddly it only cost £150 more than stock. money well spent in my opinion.
