hi guys,
just while on wings... how critical is the position in terms of length from the wheel base.

for instance if a wing has been designed on a car that is outbound of the bodyork as apposed to above the rear wheels and on the bodywork
why?

just wondered what consequences of moving the rear wing inwards inside the bodywork could potentially be on a car which has an outbound rear wing

cheers

1. Moving the wing foward will affect the balance of the car as the point (moment?) of downforce will move towards the front of the car.
2. You might also find that downforce is either reduced or increased because of the changed effect of the bodywork on the airflow.
3. Some wings also work in conjunction with the rear diffuser, moving it will also impact that, if you have one.
4. How much depends on the effectiveness in it's current position

Why do you want to move it?

I think that you should be very careful. Treat the wing as a part of th overall handling package. I have been told by several people that the wing on the Radical SR4 is essential and that it would be dangerous to drive the car with a bent wing, or no wing at all.
So it would probaly be best to speak to the manufacturers of the car and ask their advice. If they won't play ball you'll have to book some track time and set up the wing with someone who knows what they are doing.
