Hi all Radical owners,

I wonder if any of you guys could help me out.
I test drove an SR3 Tracksport with the 1300i 205bhp engine at Bruntingthorpe and was blown away.....

I now really, really want a Supersport for ultimate Track day fun, but have an insurance query.

After much debating I think I'll decide on going down the 'slush fund' or 'self insurance' route for the track day insurance (ie none and pay for damage myself).

My main concern is insuring the SR3 against Fire, Theft and Transport Damage, even though it'll never turn an inch of 'road mileage'.

What do you guys (or gals) do, and who with and what sort of prices are you looking at ?

Hope you can help.

Thanks.
Rich

Either get a motorsport policy (e.g. Fairmont I thinK) for around £300 which includes tools & trailer, or, if it's road legal, get a fully comp policy from a specialist like Adrian Flux (also around £300 with restricted road mileage). AndrewD has the former, I have the latter.

We both self insure for track days - never had an incident in 4 years, so paying off so far - famous last words

Oops - and you won't get a towbar on that E46 M3! The best option is to trade it for a 330d - you know it makes sense! :-)

....especially one of the new one's with more power than Danny's.

Sad to see that none of you ladies "committed" & made it to Spa with BaT.

My SR3 is not road legal and is for track use only so I took out a policy with Eggar Lawson to cover storage, damage in transit, theft & fire etc at a cost of £755 for a new 40K car.

Yep, I get Storage, fire, theft and transport insurance from Fairmont, for 50k car, 3k trailer plus I think 3k spares, around 290 a year.

Beast, was booked in for Spa but recovering from an op and wasn't quite well enough. Guess it was fun!

I can dig out the phone number tonight but their web site is www.fairmontinsure.co.uk

You need to call them with higher value car/trailer/spares combo, I think the site lists a standard policy with a much lower limit than would work for an SR3, but called and no problems.
